NEW YORK, APRIL 5th 1968 MARTIN LUTHER KING, ASSASINATED. GONE FOREVER. At approximately 6.01pm last night, a unmistakable sound of a gunshot rand through Memphis. Dr Martin Luther King Jr, who had been standing on his balcony at the Lorraine Motel, lay dead on his balcony floor. The bullet had gone through his jaw and neck, leaving huge wounds. Outraged, local blacks took to the street’s starting riots and fight’s all over the place. The crime was quickly investigated by the FBI however no obvious answers became clear. A man named James Earl Ray is being looked for as a suspect, however many people including many of Martin’s actual family believes he was innocent. Being a Christian, Martin Luther King had many beliefs & inspirations. The main one being Gandhi’s concept of true force, and he reflected on Gandhi’s teachings. His second influence was the Sermon on the Mount. This served as the bedrock on King’s philosophy of non-violence. The believed Christian love was vital. Some of these influence’s gained Martin some of his main life achievements, the main one being winner on the Noble Peace Prize. He also achieved one of his aims with the Bus Boycott, lasting over 100 day’s successfully. The reaction to Martin’s death last night was very varied. Black’s took to the streets with riot’s starting; however White’s had a different approach. Some didn’t know quite what to think, but many were shocked at his sudden death. Racist’s we’re pleased however, but the general population was either upset or in shock at the situation. His families have a positive attitude to his death, and his wife has been said to have said to her children not to hate his killer, for he wouldn’t have wanted
