Relationship between Private and Public Police Angelenette Perham AAEW13TJ57-CJS/250 August 12, 2012 William Prince Relationship between Private and Public Police There is definitely a thin line between the relationship of private and public police. Private Officer’s are not allowed to do what a public officer may be able to do, because there are laws and regulations that must always be followed and they do not have the legal authority or training that may be need to handle any and all situations. This means that at some point a private officer may need the help from the actually police force. This is not say that private officers may not be very similar to the way a public officer may be, but they are very limited with what they can and cannot do. Because private officers are not a part of the public police they are not fully respected as being a part of security, because they not do have the same legal standpoint as the public officers . If they did it would allow them to be able to operate the same as public officers do. As of now many states are starting to incorporate the private sector of security with the public side included. If the private and public system learned how to join teams and work together crime rates may not be as high as they are today and there would be a lot less criminals on the streets. The private security sector appeared around the early 1960’s and now there millions of major corporations that employ private security and they used to secure and manage properties all around the world as well as in countries. Although it has been noted that since the early 2000’s, the private and public security have always been separated in one way or another.
