By the monster killing William, the monster is representing Frankenstein’s evil side in the most malicious way. Victor’s fear of sex is also evident throughout the novel. Upon being told his mother’s last wishes for him to marry Elizabeth he exclaims ‘Alas! Thus each of the human societies shuns and despises these creatures for what they are. The significance of the alignment of the monsters with ourselves is how the monsters are the personification of our ontology. The unconscious human mind is the content of what these works attempt to personify in the monster. As Donna Haraway said in her "Cyborg Manifesto," "we are all chimeras." The curious thing is that the protagonists in some of the works actually portray monster-like characteristics--a role reversal between the monster and the hero of the work: "We have found the enemy and he is us."
Frankenstein's Monster: Villain or Victim? "Am I to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me?" (Shelly 165) - Frankenstein's Monster Upon reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, it is all too easy to come to the conclusion that the creature Dr. Victor Frankenstein creates is a "vile insect" (68) that should be "overwhelm [ed] with... furious detestation and contempt" (68). But is this really accurate? Is this "monster" truly the "wretched devil" (68) Victor believes him to be?
However, they also appear to be linked psychologically. It can be interpreted from a Freudian perspective that the monster is Victor’s ‘Id,’ who represents and indulges in Victor’s darkest desires by transgressing moral boundaries and committing immoral acts. The creature can be seen to commit evil acts when he kills William, who is a “sweet” and “gentle” child. This destruction of innocence is an act of revenge against Victor, which arguably shows the extreme and monstrous capabilities of humans. However, the monster’s narrative allows us to see a different and perhaps more sympathetic side to the story, in which the monster attempts to “educate” William and encourage him to be his “companion and friend,” to which William “violently” rejects him for being an “ugly” “monster.” What is most startling about this prejudice is that William is just a young child and has still been corrupted by society and its discriminatory ways.
This “monster” with grotesque features and actions ends up killing every one close to his maker out of hatred and vengeance. With extensive analysis of the novel I have encountered with sufficient evidence that led me into thinking otherwise. Such evidence will be presented throughout this essay. Victor Frankenstein, we may say that actually is the incarnation of all human evilness and misdeeds while the so-called "monster” is merely a victim of Victor's mad, selfish, and egocentric state of mind. First of all, I am going to state how Victor resembles more of a monster than the creation itself.

Being either humane or monstrous shapes a person or things identity and often the degree of monstrosity can become disruptive. Throughout Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein the theme monstrosity vs. humanity is constant. The creature is referred to as a monster but the novel begins to reveal the identity of Victor Frankenstein, making him the true monster. The whole of humanity becomes monstrous in the eyes of its readers; a humanity that can’t see past its prejudices is evident throughout the book. “Am I to be thought the only criminal when all human kind has sinned against me?” As a creator, Victor Frankenstein abandons his creature, and neglects him in ways a creator shouldn’t.
More of this ominous diction that Shelley uses is shown here and it provides very disturbing imagery. The creepy imagery that is used really makes one's stomach turn so they can see the gruesomeness of the monster, and the gravity of the situation that Frankenstein has put himself in. This also helps us know how he must’ve felt in that position! Obsessed with the pursuit of knowledge, Frankenstein ends up destroying his whole life. He now lives in fear that the monster will kill him.
