Reflection Paper on Nursing

I believe that a nurse has the opportunity to be there at all of the trials and tribulations in a patients’ life. A nurse is there for people giving birth to their children, people that become ill with a life- threatening disease or illness, and even death. We as nurses have to guide these patients and their families through the hard and rough time especially when they loved ones dies. It’s our duty to teach, comfort, and use our skills for a progress of our patients. Sometimes nurses get caught up in their emotions dealing with patients and their, they get off focus on their responsibilities as what a nurse is supposed to do. Our patients have a lot to teach us as well, such as how to have faith, be strong and have enough courage and will power to fight their illness. To become a great nurse, you have a strong personality, intelligence, a good sense of humor and to be flexible. If I have the ability to have knowledge, compassion, respect, honestly, and keep patient information private, I will be a great nurse and strive throughout my career.
My view on nursing theory is that when a patient is sick with an illness, such as lung cancer, I will explain to the patient what stage it is in, how it will be treated and what medicine or treatment the patient would have to take. I will also explain to the patient about his or her cancer, how for advance it is, explain if chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation will
