To many people, these changes were long overdue. Tasks: 1. Research the rape law in your state. Be sure to share which state you researched, and answer the following questions: a. Can a man be convicted of rape in the state where you currently live?
The goal will be to look for links between sex offenders that commit the crime once again after their prison term is over. To provide background, much of the established research has focused on whether or not sex offenders have a higher recidivism rate. Many studies have been done which purport to show that they have,
Not every crime should be subject to double jeopardy. Robbery, traffic offenses, divorce suits, and minor assault cases should remain protected from double jeopardy. Only the crimes where society is at a serious risk, and new and compelling evidence is brought to light for those serious crimes, should there be a retrial of an acquitted person. In 2006, there were new rules on double jeopardy that were put into force which scored a first conviction. ( Economist) “Pressure for a change in the law came after an official inquiry into the murder in 1993 of Stephen Lawrence, a black London schoolboy, found that the principle of double jeopardy would cause “grave injustice to victims and the community” (Economist).

However the one clue he did leave which was a leather apron was inadequate in those days due to the lack of technology. In source A it says both crimes were the work of a demented being. This suggests that the Ripper was clearly a inhumane being and the fact that the police did not pick up on this makes my feelings on how the police coped much less. Although there would be no clear sigh of madness surely there is some chance that someone would have picked up on the madness when knocking on peoples doors enquiring. The media may have disrupted police enquires by printing papers that exaggerate the situation and this may have given vital information to the Ripper as he may have read these articles and gained sufficient knowledge to get himself out of near misses i.e.
We do not officially sanction the use of beating & torture or execution for sex crimes. The printing of sex offender on one’s driver’s license as well as posting of warnings on websites could be seen as opening the door to vigilante behavior. Personally, I have no problem, just some pause, with such notifications, but there may be court challenges by some civil libertarian groups in re to such practices. There are even sex offender advocacy groups, such as ReformSexOffenderLaws.Org, set up for the purpose of modifying/overturning laws they perceive as unfair. Criminal Legislation Public Order Crimes (Rape) According to Criminal Find Law (2011), the crime of rape (or "first-degree sexual assault" in some states) generally refers to non-consensual sexual intercourse that is committed by physical force, threat of injury, or other duress. A lack of consent can include the victim's inability to say "no" to intercourse, due to the effects of drugs or alcohol. Rape can occur when the offender and victim have a pre-existing relationship (sometimes called "date rape"), or even when the offender is the victim's spouse. Under the Penal Code of California Section 261 -269, (2005), there were things that could be modified due to the fact if someone wanted to just lie on you they could have the
Sometimes, crime happens suddenly because criminals don’t think before they act and this kind of crimes are usually called “unplanned crimes”. What we need to know here is planned or unplanned, both kinds of crimes are choices and these choices are made by the effects of the causes of crime. People have been trying to explain the causes of crime since the first known crime. Crime is usually considered as a bad behavior in the big majority of the societies. When we look through history, we can see the ancient Babylon Laws of Hammurabi as the first written source created to control the bad behaviors.
Robert Townsend Robin Lyons ENG 1113 4/11/13 The Problems with Gun Control Our nation currently is undergoing discussions to change its gun control laws. People on both sides of the discussion have their own opinions on what should be done to solve the problem. I see merits from both sides. However, I believe there should be more effort to address the issues of mental illness partnered more effort placed on convicting people that commit crimes with guns rather than trying to control legal gun ownership. I believe that gun control laws do not prevent crime; they just restrict legal citizens from protecting themselves.
