The 1983 Bombing of the Marine Barracks in Lebanon Jason Sauerland Southwest Florida College Abstract The bombing ob the United States Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon was a very tragic incident for all American soldiers. It was the United States’ first experience with a suicide bomb, the largest non-nuclear explosion detonated on the face of the Earth, and it marked the beginning of an era for the Middle East and the United States. On October 23, 1983, at approximately 6:30 AM, a yellow Mercedes delivery truck drove to Beirut International Airport, where the United States Marines had their headquarters. The truck was a hijacked water delivery truck, and was driven by Ismalal Ascari, an Iranian. The truck contained about 12,000 pounds of TNT, and it plowed over the barbed wire fence and past

When high-profile gun violence has happened it brings a nationwide focus that beams down on gun control. Though there has been a lot of press in regard to violence concerning guns, the one that hit the United States the hardest was the loss of innocent children at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The deadliest shooting to happen in a school was the tragedy that happened at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 2007. Of course there is no forgetting the Columbine shootings that happened in 1999, or the young Amish girls that were shot and killed in 2006. News articles bring up these horrible deeds from the past in regard to bring focus on gun control.
The three main ways they did this were, starvation, making them feel alone and unwanted, and just killing everyone. In the novel, Forgotten Fire by Adam Bagdasarian, there was one goal and once goal only for the Turks; Kill all of the Armenians. Mahan, a young Armenian boy was taken hostage during the genocide. Mahan was taken to an Inn with a great amount of cells in it to store all of the people. This child has to realize that now he is away from home and he does not have a family to wait around on him.

Racial Divide On November 23rd of 2012 Tom Bohs published an article in The Jackson Sun called “Bill Way Flap a Mirror of Community Racial Divide.” Racism means hate or dislike. People could be racist against religion, gender, color, or language. The first amendment states people are allowed to express and say what they believe in. Radio host Bill Way posted on a social network how he felt about the president. People didn’t like what Bill had to say.
