Push and Pull Factors

Abstract On the next page the term push factor and pull factor is defined. There are three push factors. Such as Cubans fleeing Cuba, Mexicans leaving Mexico, and people from New Orleans relocating. Each push factor is more detailed telling why these people were pushed from where they were. There is also, three pull factors. Such as Californians moving to Georgia, a gay couple moving from Montana to Canada, and a pregnant fifteen year old moving from Colorado to California. Each of the pull factors are also more detailed telling what pulled, attracted these people. Push and Pull Factors Review Questions A push factor is a feature that induces people to move out of a current location. Some push factors are Cubans fleeing Cuba, Mexicans leaving Mexico, and people from New Orleans relocating. Cubans fled Cuba because of dictatorship, therefore Cubans came to America to live a better life. Another push factor are Mexicans leaving Mexico because of the drug war. Therefore, some Mexicans migrate to the United States to escape from the violence of the drug war. People from New Orleans relocating to another state is a push factor because of Hurricane Katrina. Homes in New Orleans were destroyed along with everything else in the city, therefore people had to migrate somewhere else to have another home and/or rebuild their whole life. The opposite of a push factor is a pull factor, which is a feature that induces people to move to a certain location. Some pull factors are Californians moving to Georgia, a gay couple moving from Montana to Canada, and a pregnant fifteen year old moving from Colorado to California. Californians moving to Georgia is a pull factor, because it’s expensive to live in California and in Georgia it’s a lot cheaper.
