Using this tactic allows management to get the most out of each employee for a better workforce. When an employee is armed with a better understanding of his or her strengths and weaknesses, they are in a better position to find a career that is truly rewarding. ESFP: The Performer After completing the Keirsey self assessment, I found that my Keirsey type was ESFP (Extrovert, Sensation, Feeling, Perceiving). Being an extravert, I have the need to be sociable and tend to be energized by talking to and working with people which is true for me.
There was a big number of unemployment among black teenagers, because discrimination was still a significant factor. The unemployment rate for black people who had attended college, was 27.2% and those who had graduated from high school was 23.6%. It was higher than the unemployment rate for white high school dropouts, which was 22.3%. It was obvious that the black students were being discriminated, because the white students that didn’t t even finished high school were getting more jobs opportunities than blacks. With the Affirmative Action program there was a dramatic increase in college attendance among blacks, yet there was still an astounding amount of unemployed blacks.
Not only is it just money figures it’s the idea that these middle class students are going to college for several years on a promise that if they get that degree they will be able to live comfortably, and due to the current state of economy this is just not true. Larger companies are either misusing or not getting the benefits of the government and therefore there have been job cuts in professional positions that would have served as a landing point for these college degree students ("Occupy Wall Street"). Now that there is no jobs these students are left with tens of thousands of dollars in debt with no way to earn money because they are over qualified for lower positions but do not have the experience to land one of the limited jobs left in the professional white collar business world. Now this is a major topic of dispute because a lot of the country believes that they just need to work hard and stop complaining because that’s what they did and they now live happily, but the truth is they cannot do that. This is why these thousands of individuals are marching on Wall Street to voice their ideas on them and tell them that they their greed and no care for the rest of the nation is what is killing us this very day, and until some sort agreement I made it looks like the protests will not end("Occupy Wall Street").
In the bad economy of today, tuition rate are increasing constantly. It is difficult for students to find colleges who have tuition rates for full time student under $5,000 per semester. Since UTA uses flat rate, full time students have to pay $4439 per semester which include using every facilities available and 12 to 30 credit hours (“Description of Tuition, Fees and Charges”).This way student who are taking more classes can save a lot of money than student who are taking less classes. UTA also meets the demand for graduate students. The graduation rate shows successful completion of college and gives an idea about quality of the program provided by college.
Although it seems that we are making great strides in education with increased admissions for college students in diverse social, income and ethnic groups, that because these students are not getting degrees the gap between rich and poor continues to increase, and these achievements in education are not as valid as they seem. The article says that universities which have higher enrollment rates of students from low-income families also have lower graduation rates. However, at institutions with the highest graduation rates such as the University of Colorado and Stanford, a large majority of the students come from high-income homes, a statistic that has continued to rise the past 20 years. At elite universities, the student-body populations are becoming more and more diverse as far as cultural and religious background, but these students all share an upper-middle class upbringing. By one estimate, the cost of four-year public college tuition has tripled since the 1980s, outpacing both inflation and family income. (NY Times) This alone makes it impossible for the average student to attend a 4 year institution to attain a degree to better their life. Think of the number of families that are living at or below the poverty level, now sending their child to college becomes an additional burden that they cannot bear. The increase in the tuition burden is largely caused by declining state support for higher education in the past three decades. In both good times and bad, state governments have pushed more of the costs onto students, forcing many to take out big loans or be priced out of once affordable public colleges at a time when a college education is critical in the new economy.
This situation of unfair admission rate happened not only on the students from Asia, but also on the Asian Americans. “Asian Americans applicants and admittances, on average, score higher on the SAT than students from any other race”, Quynh-Nhu Le, the author from the Harvard Crimson Admissions Blog, points out, “while the percentage of students belonging to most other racial minorities in highly selective colleges have gone up over the years, the percentage of Asian-American students has not”. According to the admission expert, Jean Webb, the Director of Admissions at Yale Law Scholl said: every college needs to make sure it has diversity of the campus. However, why college admissions consider the problem of races? Does race really matter?
On the other hand, it’s much more objective and accurate to give scores based on the achievements of the student. In fact, this is a more commonly used way of assessing students. It’s because this takes less time and reflects the students’ performance better. Also, colleges and companies prefer a person who works really hard and gets a successful result to a person who does his best but fail in achieving his goal. Thus, grading based on the achievement is better to reflect students’ capacity that companies need.
In this unit learners will come to appreciate the soft skills they need to develop to become effective employees. Learners will identify and consider their own soft skills and, through practise, improve these skills. Communication skills are key to success in any sector but are particularly important in highly technical sectors, such as IT, where the language used can become full of jargon. It is important that learners are able to communicate with non-technical staff and understand when different types and vehicles of communication are appropriate. IT provides specific software packages and advanced tools that can be used to improve the effectiveness of communications.
This program is designed to help change the way students think. The classes are made up to leave half the time for students to communicate with other students in their class.
