While reading Thomas Paine’s The Age of Reason, it is apparent that one can question their true faith and where their beliefs really come from. From Paine it brought many questions of my loyalties lie and where my faith comes from. Throughout life, from time to time, questions of what is true from the Lord can be muddy. With this writing, there are many contradictions, false facts, and inconsistent thoughts. Paine’s main thesis discussed in the writing was his open mindedness for others to accept other religions and not blindly follow other people with that they believe.

“We need Jesus to justify and glorify us, so we find the true meaning to ourselves.” In (Romans 2;15), Paul says that the Gentiles didn’t have the law while, the Jews did, meaning that humanity has the law or not. Such in (Romans 2:12) Paul says whether or not people have sinned against the law or not, all are condemned regardless as the Jews began teaching a stronger condemnation because they had the law all along. Where it all wraps up in (Romans 4:15) Paul asserts that knowledge of the law brings wrath, the Gentiles conversely didn’t have the law. Meaning that the Jews are held to higher standards then the Gentiles. When you look at the views today, many people are believing today that we don’t need God, and he’s not who everyone thought he was.
In any search for truth, the issue of religion will arise at some point. The religious values, or lack of them, permeate out thinking about many issues, and most people naturally feel a deep personal interest in the whole question of God. There may be people who are indifferent to the possibility of God’s existence. Would be strange to be indifferent to an area of knowledge which claims to explain the nature of right and wrong, the purpose of life and what happens to us after death. In “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” Edwards brings into question the salvation of anyone who has not been “born again.” He never directly questions his own salvation, but declares that many in the congregation to which he is speaking will soon find themselves burning in hell. The only hope he offers for escaping from the fiery pits of eternal damnation is a metaphorical call to flock to the open arms of Jesus. Considering that he was speaking to a congregation of Puritans, such an ultimatum would seem superfluous: were they not all there for the purpose of seeking God’s mercy? Or perhaps Edwards was speaking to those Puritans like Anne Bradstreet in all their human imperfection. I was thinking, how can we resist the devil in such a way that he will flee from us? Now of course there are lots of angles we could look at, such as not giving in to temptation, however my thoughts ran along the theme of recognizing that the key is knowing what his name means and resisting accordingly. The devil and Satan are the same person all the others are evil spirits or demons. Demons afflict people with diseases among other things, but the name devil means false accuser or slanderer.

Christians across the world battle on the issue that memes does or doesn’t exists. Religious memes and me metric may not be inherently good or bad superior or inferior but they do exist. That no matter what are cultures are we can evolve while staying true to ourselves and are roots. So whatever category one’s culture labels it’s all a meme of a belief in someone or something being the teacher, philosopher that we should follow his word and know that other cultures beliefs may seem to imitate each other. That some disagree that they believe in what another culture or religion believes to be what they believe to be Jesus and what he stands for also.
