These groups I can identify to because it reminds me of where I came from, and how I grow up in the South. These groups mean a lot to me because as a child, my grandmother always made me go to church, and she would be a usher in church. If I didn’t go to church then I wasn’t able to go anywhere. So it’s like I had to go. Then I became accustom to going to church, and even in the summer time the church had summer programs that I attended all summer and they would feed us lunch and we would play games all day and this was like very special for me.
It will allow me to research on a more personal level rather than just through scholar sources. My inspiration for this theme came from memories as a child, on a Sunday all of my Nana’s six children, spouses and twelve grandchildren would gather at her home for Sunday dinner. The kitchen was the main attraction as we all knew we were in for an unforgettable treat, even if the menu was the same as last weeks. All the women gathered in the kitchen each designated a specific job and no matter how big or small, it was important because, without it dinner would not be the
Shadow The Leader Project In many young men and women’s lives they have one person they have always looked up to or maybe wanted to be just like. Well, of course I was no different and in this project I will tell you all about my role model and who I looked up to, when I was young, and still today. His name is Roger Hood. Roger is a nice guy about 5 foot 5 inches and weighing in at a lucky buck fifty. But don’t judge him by his size, he has always been my Sunday school teacher and a leader in my eyes.
Since the bishop (the lay pastor) is likely to have a full-time position and a family, he is not expected to give a sermon each week. Instead, members are invited from the congregation to prepare and give brief sermons. Teens ages twelve and older speak for five minutes and adults speak for ten to fifteen minutes, depending on the number of speakers. Both men and women have this opportunity and most speak about once a year. The opening and closing prayers are also given by members of the congregation and those who come to church early, male and female, usually have many opportunities to pray, since invitations are normally extended shortly before the start of the service.
The ride home was a time where I really began to understand Mikayla, her father, and where she comes from. Without his truck, I would have never been able to reach this level of understanding of my girlfriend. It helped Mikayla and I reach a new level on our relationship. Now, I have seen her at her worst, and things can only get better from here. In all I’ve spent about 10 hours riding in his truck, just listening to him talk about his life and what he thinks about my relationship with his daughter.
Since high school, it has become more difficult for me to get involved in the community. Despite my demanding schedule, I still volunteer whenever I am available and truly believe there is always time to help others regardless of how busy you are. Within the past six months, I have done service by volunteering at a soup kitchen, multiple fundraisers for the TS foundation, a fundraiser to find a cure for MS, selling merchandise for my team, and have also done campaign work for my uncle. Being active in the
* I have about six years’ worth work history. Four of which I have worked in customer service position. Although the customer service position I held were in different industries (Blood donation services and credit counseling services), My main responsibilities included handling high volume incoming calls were I had to Respond to client’s questions and concerns. During the four years that I worked I was promoted numerous times due to my great communication and organization skills as well as my eagerness to learn. * Although I love customer service, I have had a passion for accounting and for auditing that I derived from taking college courses and decided to pursue this passion.
My father and I also used to hike about four hours from my grandfathers over the mountains into Virginia to a little old country store. We would get moon pies and yoo-hoos and sit around for about another two hours resting and talking about anything and everything. As I grew older I felt that those things were no longer important because I was a
National Honor Society members have an outstanding performance in the areas of leadership, service, character and their academics. They must demonstrate a leader and model to others a person leaning towards success. Members must work well with others and be willing to give back to the community. Although, not only do they have to display leadership and service, but members express honesty, loyalty, courtesy, concern and respect within their character. The traits I have chosen for my personal character are applicable to me because I have always looked upon the characteristics of a successful person and I believe my personal character possesses the traits.
