Full Proposal Background & Objective Disneyland Park, since 1955, has always been a beautiful place where people find joy and happiness. Together with the other four Disney Resorts around the world, the Hong Kong Disneyland aspires to create a magical place where dreams come true. Situated in Hong Kong for more than five years, it has attracted over 25 millions visitors already. [1] However, this is probably just a new beginning for the park since it finally recorded a positive earning for the first time after its grand opening 5 years ago. As the park is now embarking on its major expansion development, I would like to propose some new ideas to the park in order to help it become more vibrant and competitive. Position & Problems Hong Kong Disneyland currently occupies 22.4 hectares (55 acres), which is only about one-third of the size of the U.S. Disneyland. [2] The size of the Park had been very controversial before its construction in Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island. Some visitors have complained of waiting for hours for rides and food and said that the park is too small. Fortunately, the expansion project is making good progress and the first new themed land, “Toy Story Land”, will be made available by the end of this year. [3] Other than the size of the Park, many visitors also claimed that the tickets are priced exorbitantly compared to its major competitor, the Ocean Park. According to the official website of Disney Hong Kong, the price of an adult ticket and a child ticket is $350 and $250 respectively. [4] While in Ocean Park the ticket price for adults and children is $250 and $125 respectively, and in this regard Disneyland placed itself at a lower competitive edge. [5] Hong Kong is well-known for its reputation of “Food Paradise” where visitors can easily enjoy cuisine from different countries. Despite the variety of restaurant choices provided
