Problem Solving Theory 19 May 2015 Defeating College, And Then Some The career that I had in mind when I first began college was one in business administration. Luckily, this career was one matched closely to my interests and personality type. Although I’ve begun considering other career avenues, I still chose to research this specific career in depth later in life. I want to one day own my own business, but I also want that to be something to do with computers. A software developer typically is the computer programming, documenting, testing, and bug fixing. When someone becomes an adult, move out of their parent’s home, and go out into the world on their own they may or may not decide to go to college. Whether they do or not, college is for the most part instrumental for a person to succeed in life and have a career, attending college and successfully graduating can be a triumphant milestone. Being a college graduate can affect your life in several different ways. Whether they are in college for a better job offering financial stability, a different career in something they love doing or just to prove to oneself that they can achieve greater. College Student Journal says, “College student success and graduation are important to students seeking a degree and to the nation's communities, yet only just better than half of the students who enroll in 4-year colleges and universities will receive a bachelor's degree within 6 years (Sparkman, Maulding & Roberts, 2012).” In any new career journey it could be intimidating at first. Because doing something new and unfamiliar can quickly change your mind about whether you will stick with it or not, it is important to have a clear reason as to why going back to college is the next step, goals that will keep your end result in mind, and a positive attitude about the new adventure.
