We all want to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies, but there is no reason to single out abortion among all a woman’s reproductive choices as the one choice which is somehow less valid or acceptable than childbirth, adoption, or other reproductive choices. Abortion is a valid personal decision within the field of health care. Every woman has their own personal reason to have an abortion. There are many reasons women decide abortion is the best choice for them such as, birth control failures, inability to care and support
Women should not have the right to an abortion just because the fetus has a disease or deformation. Doctors that tell mothers about the diseases or deformations the baby has, often result in abortions. Diseases or deformations should not matter when it comes to having a child because the mother should love her child just the way they are. Mothers worry about the health costs of the baby’s disease or deformation but there are a lot of financial aid and heath care programs that can help. “Women who are able to get Medicaid in states that exclude coverage for abortion have abortion rates of about half of those women in states that give money to support abortion care" (Balch 6).
As a country we all need to agree that under certain cases abortion should be considered, but other than that it’s homicide. An unborn baby should have the same opportunity to experience life as we all do every day. The majority of Abortions is caused by a woman wanting to postpone childbearing, simply
Others should not be forced to turn to judicial bypass because of their family’s opinion on the topic. Adult women have the right to terminate a pregnancy, and teenage females should as well. In the Untied States more than 1 million teenage girls become pregnant annually and have been steadily since 1973. Out of these pregnancies 78 percent are unintended, and approximately 35% are terminated (www.prochoice.org). Teenage women who become pregnant are forced to make difficult and ultimately life altering decisions, starting with deciding if they should, or even want to keep the baby or not.
She confides in the therapist that she is pregnant and is trying to find a place for an abortion where she will not need to tell her parents that she had an abortion or that she is pregnant. The issue of confidentiality comes in because while Pennsylvania has a law that states that the minor would need parental consent for an abortion the minor is seeking an abortion that may be out of state. The 14 Steps in Ethical Decision Making The problem statement could be that the therapist is faced with an issue of confidentiality. While the teen is lawfully allowed to keep her pregnancy from her parents she cannot get an abortion in her
Even then, there is someone who would take the baby and raise it as their own. Too many girls and women, who are sexually active, do not take precautions to prevent pregnancy, and many just say that abortion is always a possibility. If someone is going to have unprotected sex, she should be prepared for pregnancy whether she chooses to keep the baby or allow another deserving family to raise the baby through adoption. There are so many men and women who want to have children but are not able to conceive. Finding someone to take a baby is never a problem.
Not only are teen mothers not ready for parenthood; some of them may have parents encouraging them to get the abortion. In other cases, parents may not know their daughters are pregnant, largely due to fear their daughters have of telling them. In such cases, parents are less likely to know about their daughters abortions. This research paper investigates the issue of abortion, and the effect it has on the nursing profession and healthcare system. The paper concludes with professional interventions to implement a change for abortion.
Pro-choice believes- that abortion is the belief that women have the right to choose to abort a baby from their body. Arguments for Pro-Life 1. Since life begins at conception, abortion is the same to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Abortion is in direct defiance of the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life 2. No civilized society lets one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different.
The Dilemma An ethical dilemma is a situation in which no solution is entirely satisfactory to either party (Foundations of nursing care, 2004). The historical 1973 Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade ruled in favor of the plaintiff, considering abortion an essential right granted to women under the Constitution of the United States (McBride, 2006). Jane Roe was a woman that was pregnant who wanted to obtain an abortion. She was prosecuted on behalf of women in a similar situation that wanted to avoid the implementation of Texas laws banning all abortions except those deemed necessary to save the life of the mother. The court decided in her favor that a woman’s right to abortion fell within the right to privacy, and was protected by the fourteenth amendment (McBride, 2006).
Is Adoption Better Than Abortion: There are many similarities that link both abortion and adoption however there are also very many differences which separate them, either reasons which concern the mentality of the mother after the two processes and the physical differences made to their life. The first, most obvious similarity; is that they are giving up their baby, another being that you are not forced into unplanned parenthood. This however, also links into not being forced into hastily made relationships or even marriages with the father of the child. This being a fantastic reason which favours the two options as does the prevention of teenage girls losing their youth to being forced into a position that may hinder the whole of their later life. One of the main differences between adoption and abortion is that abortion ends a life in order to end a pregnancy whereas adoption requires the giving up of the young or new born baby.
