Fitz kills Verna, because he didn’t want to lose his presidency, and since she has already tried to assassinate he knows she is a threat alive. Another important piece of information is that with both scenarios, the wives had no part on influencing these murders. These situations are the first times they make bad decisions on their own, which shows them both heading down the wrong path. Macbeth states that he is just so far in that there is no turning back, which is similar to why Fitz because he was in the presidency so deep. If the scandal were to come out the affect it would have on him and the people around him would be exponential, and he just couldn’t risk
Also, he never forgave an opponent. Very few dictators have demanded such terrible sacrifices from their own people, but that never stopped Stalin ("Characteristics of a Machiavellian Leader”). Joseph Stalin ruled by terror and executed or jailed most of those who had helped him rise to power because he feared they might threaten his rule ("Characteristics of a Machiavellian Leader”). By making his people fear him, they obeyed his orders and did not rebel against him or his power. Fear is a powerful tool used in dictatorship and being a Machiavellian leader.
His paranoia reached the point to where he was mentally unstable. One source of motivation for the killing of the king derives where most people would not most commonly suspect: his own wife. The idea of her becoming queen engulfed her mind; therefore, she urged Macbeth to proceed with the killing of King Duncan. Following Duncan’s murder, the only thing bothering Macbeth was the prophecy told by the witches about Banquou’s son becoming the king. Fearing the worst, he allowed his paranoia take over his thought process, by not it should be obvious that his paranoia played a big role in his decision making.
I think that the idea that he does not deserve his reputation is solely for argument, because some people love the feeling of making other people angry. So Alexander made some mistakes and maybe he killed people, just because he had the authority, but no one is perfect and you can’t argue that he does not deserve this title because he made these mistakes. Every human person has made mistakes because no one human has any faults in their history. If you look at other great leaders, they all had a weakness and eventually led to their downfall, but just because they had weaknesses does not mean that they should not be honored for their accomplishments. I think that ‘defaming’ Alexander the Great does not prove the ‘no’ side in any way, because he did many things to help his empire and even though he was the cause of many deaths to the native people of their homelands, he did what he thought was best for his people.
In the novel 1984, by George Orwell, the idea of Winston Smith being a hero is questionable and up to debate among many people ever since the release of the book. He is the author's intended hero in the novel and rebels against a government that wrongfully controls and manipulates its citizens. Winston Smith is a hero with flaws just as any other hero has flaws and is someone who anyone can relate too. Although it may be difficult to see his heroic attributes on the surface; analyzing his actions and words reveal who he is. Smith grew tired of the Party and its wrongdoing and decided it was time to act.
Many people like to believe the cause of World War I was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Although that did trigger the war, it did not start the up rising problems. War doesn’t just happen over night; there were problems long before Franz Ferdinand died. Problems such as militarism, alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and then the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Militarism led to problems because every country had confidence that its new technological weaponry and troop count could defeat any other country, which led to a severe lack of negotiations.
When it was revealed that Oedipus himself murdered Laius, he chose to be banished from Thebes. It sounded definitely the best exit because he wanted his punishment to be more symbolic than justice like. Despite all this, Oedipus didn’t want to commit suicide because it would not do the citizens of Thebes any good, to be people belonging to a kingdom where two kings dye, one past another. Even though it seems that Oedipus has not been a particularly good monarch, in fact his only major accomplishment seems to be killing the Sphinx all those years ago; having a king put to death could have serious repercussions on the rest of the kingdom. By highlighting Oedipus’ punishment one could see that the play contains some gray area.
Colby's friends had been warning him for some time that they did not like the way Colby had been behaving. But after Colby did something, his friends decided that he should be hanged. They tried to rationalize their decision by saying that they, ".... had a perfect moral right to do so because he was our friend, belonged to us in various important senses, and he had after all gone too far." (Barthelme, 1973, pg. 194) His friends would not listen to Colby's argument that, "Going too far was something everybody did sometimes."
Persuasive essay Would you not do whatever it takes just to know that there is one less murderer on our planet? Give justice to the vistim’s grieving family at any cost? Many people believe that capital punishmant is unethical and should be abolished. But presently, the crime rate is rapidly increasing due to the lack of effective capital punishment. The murderers deserve to be executed like they killed their victims.
Because of this, he decides he must kill Banquo, so that there will be no heir. “Macbeth plots the murder of Banquo, out of jealousy and insecurity.” (Hompi 1) This is obviously an absurd idea, and prior to Macbeth’s murder of King Duncan he never would have considered it as a solution. Shakespeare uses this to show how power corrupts even the best of people. It is obvious that this is still a problem in society today, as people start off with good intentions but slowly get sidetracked. Before long, their objectives have changed completely.
