In this globalization Stress is an inevitable part of our daily life. Seven out of ten adult in United State say they experience stress or anxiety daily, and most say it interferes at least moderately with their life. Stress can be defined as a body's reaction to changes that require physical, mental, or emotional adjustment or respond. Many things can trigger this response, including change. Change can be positive or negative, as well real or perceived. They may recurring, short-term, or long term and may include things like commuting to and from school or work every day, traveling for early vacation, or moving to a home. Other than that, changes can be mild and harmless such as getting award, winning competition or riding a rollercoaster.…show more content…
Miller, 2013) acute stress is the most common form of stress. It comes from demand and pressures of the recent past and anticipates demand and pressures of the near future. Acute Stress is also known as a thrilling and exciting in small doses, but is exhausting. Sometimes stress can be brief and specific to the demands and pressure of a particular situation such as deadline, a performance or facing up to a difficult challenge or traumatic event. By the same time, overdoing on short-term stress can lead to psychological distress, tension headaches, upset stomach, and other symptoms. Imagine you are driving down the road, the window is down and the sun is shining. You put on your indicator and look over your shoulder as you are changing lane. Suddenly a 6 ton truck blasts its horn as it bears down on you. The screech of tires and the smell of rubber as the truck's tires grip the road, in split second, your fight or flight response is activated. The muscles, nerves, and glands are mobilized as adrenaline moves in. When you grip the steering wheel, slam on the breaks and swerve. Your heart is pumping and muscles are tensed. This stress response has saved your life. This mobilization of the body's resources occurs whenever the stress response is activated. This type of stress is intense in nature but short in duration.
