Some of those reasons being the crime rates, the costs of what could happen, and injuries. Firearm injuries have killed more than 28,000 Americans each year since 1972 (Ruben). In 2007, thirty-one thousand two hundred twenty four Americans died due to homicides, suicides, and accidental shootings. Accidental shootings happen quite often. In 2007, around seventy thousand Americans were hospitalized due to accidental shootings.
It is extremely important for the citizens of these gang-infested areas to grasp the totality of the issue and decide to fight against it despite feelings of hopelessness. In 2011, the number of African-Americans under the age of 22 was more than triple the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Sadly, the number of African-American children killed by gunfire since 1979 is more than 13 times the number of Blacks lynched between 1883 and 1968. Since 1969, homicides involving firearms have been the leading cause of death for African-American males between the ages of 15 and 19. The primary cause of violence in the African-American community is gang activity.

Government intervention into the media is a hot topic these days, filled with controversy and blame. Every group is pointing the finger at another group. Parents are blaming the government for not helping, government is blaming the media for not censoring material, and others are blaming the parents for not censoring and protecting their children. Our society is getting nowhere. there is no solid proof that the media causes violence, and although parents do a lot to help and protect their children, there are still some steps that can be taken to protect their children against violent and sexual material.
McElroy confirms this by stating that “society is brutal to those who are different.” Without speaking would be hard for Gauvin to make friends when conversation is hard for him to communicate with other kids and understand them. Sign language is a type of communication that not many young children are exposed to; therefore, sign language is strange to them when someone, such as a deaf person, uses sign to try to communicate with them. This could expose their son to be made fun of by his fellow classmates and possibly bullied and later on become isolated by them as well, and growing up all kids want to be accepted by their classmates. No one ever wants to be the outcast of any social
The child’s lack of adequate socialization with peers may contribute to identity confusion. The adolescent being to notice that they are not like their friends. and this alone can cause a great deal of distress. Teenagers want to fit into a group and Crohn’s disease constantly pulls them away from their peers and deprives them of a sense of belonging. Teens may be self-conscious of their delayed puberty a complication of Crohn’s disease.
More than 70,000 students are victims of alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape. (Hingson et al., 2002). Reports state that 67 percent of male sexual aggressors and 50 percent of female victims had been drinking at the time of the sexual assault. According to www.niaaa.gov ) “In both 1998 and 2001, more than 500,000 students were unintentionally injured because of drinking and more than 600,000 were assaulted by another student who had been drinking,” says Ralph Hingson of Boston University .Hingson was quoted in a news
Research suggests that alcohol use by the offender, the victims or both, increases the likelihood of sexual assault by a male acquaintance (NIAAA). Individual under the age of 21 commit 45 percent of rapes,44 percent commit robberies and 37 percent commit sexual assault. Its estimated that the population as a whole, 50 percent of violent crime is related to alcohol use. And most of this teenagers are at high risk of sex intercourse, because the alcohol in their system is too high, they have sex with anybody without knowing the person and the person may become eventually become pregnant and they have to accept the responsibility which they might not be ready for and they may end up aborting the baby which is another sin. They may also have unprotected sex with someone who is infected with a disease such as Hiv/Aids, syphilis, staphylococcus and other sexual transmitted disease therefore passing it
These incidences usually run in three different categories; trauma, gunshot and stabbed. In 1998 there were 60 reported deaths related to domestic violence. The majority of deaths were from gunshot wounds. The victims were mainly females and were killed from someone close such as boyfriend or husband. Now if you look at 2000 there were significantly more deaths.
Underage Drinking Underage drinking mostly starts at the early ages of 11 to 14 years old. This has become one of the largest discussed issues and major problems in America because of the increase of deaths every year. According to the department of health and human services underage drinking has caused problems such as: public health and safety problems, potential brain damage issues, alcohol disorders, violence, suicides, sexual assault, rape and many car accidents. Underage drinking has become a very huge problem for teenagers where life and health are at great risk. In my point of view as sophomores in high school and as a member of the small community I live in I think that there should be other ways and more classes on underage drinking.
