There were some who offered to work in the background, but most refused to even get involved. Also, to say that someone that doesn’t want to fight is cowardly is not correct. The conscientious objectors had to face the public intimidation and the prison sentences along with the years of hard labour. They were also restricted with lots of jobs and working at certain places. I definitely would not call that being a coward.
Prison Environment Alexis Lucca CJS/ 230 06/11/2014 Jason Skeens Prison Environment Prison is not the place that people want to spend a majority of their life at. It’s overcrowded, dirty, no privacy and very dangerous. It is like taking a bunch of troubled people and throwing them in a small room to live their life 23 hours a day. Prisoners are always on edge making sure that they are protecting themselves from others. There are usually a lot of violent offenders in prison and they don’t care about the well-being of others.
Nowadays people don’t like when other people are in their business. Usually when they get caught in the act of doing the opposite they tend to get hurt. So by applying these rules it will keep you out of trouble and safe. Nobody uses these “unofficial” rules. While some people are not using these rules, a lot of other people are using this rule.
Those who would disagree with the idea that the panopticon is an ethical form of punishment would argue that it is wrong to leave the prisoners alone. They would have a problem with the permanent solitary confinement. They would argue that the prisoners should be allowed to leave the cell every now and then. They would have a problem with the fact that the prisoners have no privacy because of the constant visibility. They would not like the fact that the prisoners are not allowed to socialize with anyone else because they do not have a chance to make any friends or even help pass the time by just hanging out with someone who is also in their position.
Human beings are capable of doing terrible things to each other. But that is the point, they are human beings. Not animals. I don’t know of anyone that can be isolated all day every day, and not want to explode or crack under that kind of pressure. The people in solitary confinement don’t deserve to be treated like a dog.
Fudge and his group, in my opinion, did not make the best decision as a group to retaliate against the skinheads for pulling a gun at Malik. I felt a lot of anger in that scene but I do not have a solution. I am a peaceful person but when you cannot talk to this group and there is not positive police presence on your behalf, I am at a loss for words. With all of that against you, I would opt to just talk to my own group to find positive ways to cope with the
On the other hand after reading of Milgram's experiment with Obedience to Authority, at this age, I would not be able to follow through with the orders to repeatedly shock someone for a wrong answer. I know that people make mistakes and don't always know the right answer to questions, but being wrong shouldn't be punished. As a child, I was brought up to listen to adults and they are "in charge." I can't personally speak from what I would've done in the past, but being put in that situation where I understood that the person in charge was going to tell me to push a button to shock someone, I most likely would've
“When prison environments become unduly painful, they also become harmful, and prisoners carry the effects or consequences of that harm back into the society once they have been released “(Haney, 2009). This is unfortunate however, it is merely reality and we must not close our eyes to this issue. Overcrowding “While building or expanding prison capacity can reduce overcrowding, the decision to build is out of the control of those who work in particular prisons” (Improving Conditions in Overcrowded Prisons, 2007). Since building additional facilities is out of the question due to lack of funding I have created a few programs that can possibly be implemented to help prevent future overcrowding. There are other alternatives besides incarceration available to our present inmates.
Honestly in this type of argument it comes down to the better facts rather than opinions and that’s why Cillizza makes the better argument. From both sides of the argument we can see the basic ideas of each authors but now let’s go deeper On the side of privacy. As privacy is an important issue as to the people, we can see that the people believe that if you “watch someone long, and you’ll find something to arrest”. (Paragraph 4). Schneier shows this to prove that doing nothing can lead to trouble with blackmail or abuse with surveillance information.
The youth should not put in prison It is not a good idea put the youth in the prison. so you think it is possible if they do something in crime without other manuduction need to put in the prison is right? The young people don’t know what is right and wrong. Also the youth don’t understand the law. The governments need to foster them.
