Madison and the other 56 delegates gathered in Philadelphia in May 1787. They planned to amend the Articles of Confederation. They ended up creating a new constitution, and Madison became the chief recorder of information. He had previously helped create Virginia’s constitution, thus he understood the process of creating a constitution more than the other delegates who didn’t have as much experience. Madison strongly encouraged a strong central government.
Constitutional Convention which wrote the U.S. Constitution. In addition to these awe-inspiring achievements, which created a strong foundation for America, he became the country’s first presidential leader. What made the two previous achievements awe inspiring? George Washington was born on Pope’s Creek Plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia on February 22, 1732. He was the son of Augustine Washington and his second wife, Mary Ball Washington.
Alexander Hamilton and The Federalist The Federalist essays are a series of eighty-five essays that were written with the intention of persuading the residents of New York to ratify the proposed United States Constitution. Alexander Hamilton was concerned that his fellow New Yorkers would not ratify the constitution due to the fact that, in New York, “Anti-Federalists such as Governor George Clinton held power.” [9] The ratification of the proposed Constitution in New York was especially important because the state was “a major economic and political entity located in the heart of the country [and] would be an essential pivot in any union of states.” [8] Hamilton recruited John Jay and James Madison to help him publish The Federalist essays. They were initially published by New York newspapers beginning on October 27, 1787, and were written under the pseudonym Publius, taken from a Roman politician by the name of Publius Valerius Publicola. This pseudonym had special meaning to Hamilton; he had chosen it because “Publius Valerius was not a late defender of the republic but one of its founders. His more famous name, Publicola, meant ‘friend of the people’,” [5] By April 1788 the men had published seventy-seven of The Federalist essays.
Tasks of the First Congress The First Congress had the tasks of raising money, creating a bill of rights, setting up the executive departments, and organizing the federal judiciary. B. Madison and the First Congress James Madison persuaded Congress to adopt the Revenue Act of 1789. Twenty-seven amendments have been ratified since the original signing of the Constitution, the first ten of which are known as the Bill of Rights. The Amendments to the United States Constitution have had a major affect on American life. A major feature of the Constitution is the capability of changing the document in order for it to become accustomed to the changing times and conditions. There are a few methods in order to change the Constitution. An amendment proposed by 2/3rds vote in each house of congress could be approved by either one of two ways.
The 55 men at the convention are called the “Founding Fathers” of America or “Framers of the Constitution.” Some of the famous framers are George Washington, James Madison, and Benjamin Franklin. The framers worked to frame a constitution that would provide for a strong central government while protecting states’ right/To prevent the federal government from abusing its powers, the framers of the Constitution separated the government into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. This separation of powers prevents any one branch from becoming too powerful. Through a system of separation of power and the system of “checks and balances,” each of these branches has some authority to act on its own and some authority to regulate the other two branches. The United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Our Founding Fathers’ legacies have laid a path for America to follow, sidestepping injustice and promoting American ideals. Our Founding Fathers’ creation of the Electoral College was the guiding hand of America’s government and since 1787, electoral voting had always been used in presidential elections. It had been used for more than two hundred years and since then, no major problems have arisen. This month’s resolution is resolved: Direct popular vote should replace electoral vote in presidential elections. My partner and I strongly urge you to negate the resolution due to the following contentions: Contention #1: The Electoral College can enhance the ideologies of the Democratic and Republican parties.
Feryl Cutkomp Hist 331 Dr. Warren 02/19/14 Native American Influence on the Constitution Native Americans are looked over quite a bit in Revolutionary times in America. They are seen as very insignificant until the beginning of the nineteenth century, but some historians believe that they may have had a large amount of influence on the drafting of the United States Constitution. The Iroquois, to be specific, are the group of Native Americans that most historians like to look at for this proposal. They argue that the Iroquois had been practicing the very same ideals that are present in the Constitution for years before it had been written. The Iroquois had a type of government set up that is most commonly referred to as the Iroquois League.
The Constitution is a document written by the members of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even though it was written hundreds of years ago, this document plays an important role in the establishment in the current United States government. One part of the Constitution that plays a critical role to the foundation of America is the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is consisted of the first Ten Amendments of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is important because it protects the rights of United States citizens.
In the United States public leadership roles range from community organizer, leader, state representative, city council, mayor governor, senator, congress and of course, the highest seat of official leadership, president. While the descriptive roles of the said titles will remain in place, I ponder how the forthcoming leaders in generation Y {born 1982-2000} {AKA millennial generation} will address today’s looming concerns that will be tomorrow’s issues. I recently read a powerful quote that did not have the author’s name at the end. Despite the question of authorship, the quote was a stark reminder of the current rolling coin of change taking place in America. It read: “Changing world political realities, population demographics, the environment
