Piggy's glasses become an important symbol representing the social order of the boys as they try to determine how to lead them. I will be talking about the Symbols of Piggy’s glasses and roles and effects. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding Piggy’s glasses gives the boys order. Every little thing you could imagine has symbols. Some symbols Piggy’s glasses have is the conch, the conch is used for order and necessity. It keeps the boys from going crazy. It is also used for peace. It gave the boys peace because they just put glasses on wood and light so it could start the fire. They didn’t need Piggy so that gave the boys peace. Power is the most important. Piggy’s glasses started a fire twice. Whoever started the fire had power. The smallest things in life could mean nothing to you. It could also mean everything. Piggy’s glasses have very important roles in this book. One of the roles of Piggy’s glasses is when the boys used Piggy’s glasses to start a fire. When they broke, it was the last tie to humanity that they had. they lost sanity. When Piggy’s glasses were stolen, he lost his personality. Personalities is a big thing for everyone. Its what makes us unique. It gives him good ideas to help the boys get off the island(or at least attempts). Piggy would always clean his glasses, when someone asked a question. He wiped them as a sign of Clarity, as if the wiping of his glasses gave him the answer to the question.
