Ethical Views on Physician Assisted Suicide The topic of physician assisted suicide has been a topic for debate for years, why? Assisted suicide creates an ethical dilemma. Killing is wrong, but not everyone share’s the same view when it comes to a physician assisting in the process. With so many different cultures and religions, it can be hard to find a rational explanation and reason for suicide and assisted suicide. In the medical community, nurses take an oath” a nurse must not act deliberately to end a person’s life. One must also consider religious views. Because there are too many mixed feelings and perspectives regarding the issue. But I feel denotology would offer the best reasoning, explanation and/or problem solver. Not that everyone would agree, but this view point could begin a path to possibly finding a common ground on the moral issues that stems from suicide. Deontologists believe that no matter the reason, doing wrong to another person is wrong. Treat everyone as an equal and with pride. Why? Because deontology is the only view that places a strong moral argument against the application of physician assisting patients in suicide. I fully believe that some things are just morally wrong and murder in any form is wrong on all levels and regardless of any circumstances, in my opinion there is no reason strong enough to condone killing... I can be sympathetic to those who are suffering as well the physicians that may feel empathy for their patients. But I do not feel that any one person should be able to determine life or death. If all people applied the theory of deontology to the topic of assisted suicide and felt the way I do we would not have an ethical issue to argue about. Even with the controversy and different
