Care needs in different life stages In this task I will explain the different care needs of individuals at different life stages. Infant 0-3 During an infant’s life there are many care needs that need to be provided by their parents or carer. An infant will need to be looked after 24/7. They will need someone to bath them, dress them and feed them as a child of this age would not be able to do this for themselves. Infants will also need to be taught how to read and write, this should be done by the parents however if a child attends nursery then this would also be taught there. Infants will need to learn how to communicate, socialise and play with other adults and children. However if a child has special needs or a disability their care needs may differ, for example the time it takes a child to be able to communicate may be longer than a child who does not have special needs. The most important thing for an infant’s care needs is to be loved and cherished. An infant will rely on its parents for love and will need to feel a sense of belonging. When a child is first born it will rely on its parents for absolutely everything. The child’s parents will be responsible for washing them feeding them and dressing them, infants will not under any circumstances be able to do anything for themselves. However when a child reaches the ages of around 6 months the child will get into the routine of having a bath, being fed and getting dressed, this will lead to the child eventually showing signs of wanting to do things themselves and becoming more independent when the child reaches around 2 years old they will become extremely independent and will be able to basically dress themselves for example they will be able to put their own socks on and hats. A new born child will not be able to be taught how to read or write but reading stories to the child every night will help with
