I had already gained consent from patient A for myself and the nurse to give a bed bath in accordance with the NMC code of conduct (NMC, 2008) and following this I went to collect the correct equipment to perform the task. As patient A had Clostridium Difficile they needed to be isolation nursed. We isolate nurse to “prevent the risk of spreading germs to other patients and staff” (NHS, 2010). Outside of the side room there were red aprons and gloves which needed to be put on before entering. Before entering the side room, it is essential to collect all equipment to avoid leaving the room unnecessarily.
One film by Hitchcock that terrified audiences around the world with new shots to startle anyone was “Physco.” The scene where the woman is seen taking a shower while home alone, the scene is set up with lights high up on the side of the shower with the curtain drawn. The camera flashes several times to the viewpoint of the women in the shower looking straight up at the shower head, then while her back is turned the murderer enters the room. When the audience is introduced to the murderer backlighting is used so all you can see is his silhouette, not his face. Several quick shots are used to show the stabbing of the woman and quick cuts back to the shower head, all this is covered in screeching music to take the place of screams making it more eerie than hearing actual screams. The scene ends with a tilted, zoomed out shot of the woman’s eye giving a blank stare to the audience.

With the characters set, Boyle, very quickly, turns her attention on the plumber and Mrs. Ames. The plumber, who warmly introduces himself to Mrs. Ames, is quick and attentive to the problem that she is faced with and calmly seeks to find what is truly the case of her flooded house. Looking for a solution, the plumber casually starts a conversation with Mrs. Ames, asking the proper questions needed to successfully do his job. She replies, telling him what happened and what she needed to do to stop the water from doing further damage.
Then there is the dilemma of where should she put her purse, a woman is faced with three options: to have her friend hold it, to place it on top of the toilet or to hang it on the door handle. The next problem is the dirty toilet seat and the solution depends on the availability of toilet paper. If there is paper, one can either wipe the seat or pad it with toilet paper. If the stall is out of paper, a lady can squat on the seat or use her leg muscles to hold her body above the dirty seat. When she is done, she switches with her friend, who will go through the same sequence.
First one must have to get all the things they will need before even starting the bed bath. Things needed are 2 basins, warm water, cotton blanket, 4 washcloths, 3 towels, soap, lotion and powder. Once all supplies have been gathered set them on a table or night stand, some thing or somewhere close by and easily reached. Close any open windows and or turn up the heat in the room to make it more comfortable for the person being bathing. Most people will probably want to pull closed any drapes or open curtains as well.
Quickly I pour in my laundry soap and start the machine, hoping I have enough time to run back downstairs. The race is on as I high-tail it back down the stairs to put my laundry soap in my closest and then back out of my room
