The young woman is nineteen when she is kidnapped and within a couple of years becomes pregnant and bears a son, Jack. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has kept her for seven years. A team of psychologists and teachers helped care for her and worked on emerging her into society.
Terri was found in full cardiac arrest and taken to Humana Northside Hospital. Unfortunately, the then twenty-six year old Terri had suffered irreversible damage due to prolonged lack of oxygen to the brain. She states that her older sister was also sexually abused during that same period of time. K states that she repressed the memories of her sexual abuse for many years and only recently recovered them. I can identify with this topic because at 18 years old my younger cousin was on drugs and pregnant and was sent to jail all at the same time. It was thought that while in jail she could get her self together not only for the child but for her sake also. She had the baby in jail and gave custody over to her parents. She got out of jail missing a year of her child’s life. This was in 2006 now in 2010 she is back in jail on drug related problems so what in the long run did the jail sentence prove what situation did it help?
She participated in an act of violence with her boyfriend and did not talk to the police so they gave her ten years and he talked and received three years. Stephanie “The woman’s daughter, the conspirator, is chasing her son through the maze of chairs and tables and through other children,” (Coyne 92). Once again this goes back to the little boy’s behavior, attitude, and lack of respect for his mother. The other children sitting down talking to their parents and he’s running making his mother chase him around. While Stephanie is under incarceration Ellie is staying with his grandmother.
