The term "community health" refers to the health status of a defined group of people, and the actions and conditions that protect and improve the health of the community. Those individuals who make up a community live in a localized area under the same general regulations, norms, values, and organizations. The actions that protect and improve community health can be organized into three areas: health promotion, health protection, and health services. These efforts relates to these private sectors that do everything they need to do to improve the health of the community. There are many different diseases that go around that can affect the wellbeing of community health. For example, pertussis, also known as the whooping cough, is a highly contagious bacterial disease that causes uncontrollable, violent coughing.…show more content…
When a person has this infection, sneezes or coughs, bacteria goes through the air and is easily spread from person to person. This infection does not go away quickly it last up to six weeks. This whooping cough could also affect people of any age group. Some symptoms of this infection can be runny nose, low fever, and diarrhea. Most likely it will start as a common cold. Pertussis should always be considered when vomiting occurs with coughing. However, these symptoms are not always easy to recognize. The best way to find out is to go to your doctor and he or she can take your mucus sample to examine if it actually is Pertussis.
