Persuade the Audience to Quit Smoking How many of you smoke? You may wonder what our future generation may look like because of the effects of smoking. There are several bad effects of smoking. Today you will learn that there are many harmful ingredients in cigarettes, the many different types of health risks involved with smoking, and some tips on how to help you stop smoking. There are many harmful ingredients in cigarettes that you may not realize. These ingredients can seriously harm your body. The first ingredient is ammonia. Ammonia is a drug in tobacco that makes smoking a more powerful addiction. Scientists have discovered that ammonia helps you absorb more nicotine, keeping you hooked on smoking. Arsenic is another ingredient which is a deadly poison that makes you lips burn and gives you bad breath. Benzene, another ingredient that is a cancer causing chemical that is used to make things such as pesticides, detergent and gasoline. Cadmium is another ingredient that causes damage to your liver, kidneys and the brain. Cadmium stays in your body for years. Lead is another harmful ingredient used in cigarettes. Lead poisoning stunts your growth, makes you vomit, and damages your brain. Tobacco leaves long-term effects such as death, heart disease, cancer, lung disease, reproductive damage, and birth defects. Tobacco kills more people through heart disease and stroke than it does through cancer. There are several different health risks involved when you smoke. There are different types of cancers involved. The different cancers involved when smoking cigarettes are lung, upper respiratory tract, larynx, mouth, throat, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, and cervix. Individuals may develop lung disease.
