A person's values will include their individuality, rights, choices, privacy, independence, dignity and respect. 2. Explain why it is important to work in a way that embeds person centred values. The daily care that is being administered should always be centred around the individual. You are not there just to meet their physical needs but to maintain their sense of wellbeing.
A person centred approach includes promoting an individuals right to choose and be independent. Risk taking (which is part of everyday life) involves individual’s making decisions. You are upholding someone’s dignity by recognising what is important to them by making sure they are aware of the risks before they carry out an activity. How does using an individuals care plan contribute to working in a person centred way? The customer you are caring for has been an active participant in creating their care plan by recognising what they can do for themselves.
Supporting people to be as independent as possible. Treating people with dignity and respect. Recognising that working with people is a partnership rather than a relationship controlled by professionals. By placing all these together the care plan is tailor-made to that particular person. 1.2 Explain why it is important to work in a way that embeds person centred values The values that underpin our work have an impact on our day to day work.
It influences social care work, because when we are caring for someone we have to be able to recognise that everybody is different and we must not impose our preferences to them. The personal beliefs should be respected and encouraged. Choice We need to be aware that each service user has the right to make choices and also how they can benefit from this. It is important both physically and mentally for a service user to make choices each day. It has an influence on social care work, because we need to make sure that we are communicating well, and listening to the individual's wishes and preferences, and we need to remember not to dothings without discussing it with service user.
1.1 Explain the importance of meeting an individual’s communication needs. Every individual has the right to communication as the Human Rights Act (1998) lists the freedom of expression as well as other rights relating to communication. As a support worker I have a moral obligation as well as adhering to the standards, codes of practice, guidelines, morals and law that govern my practice to ensure that communication needs are met. If an individual’s communication needs are not met then all aspects of their daily life can be affected such as not being able to communicate you are well and get help. This could be more severe in the case of abuse whereby the individual can’t communicate effectively to alert others if they are being abused and can be vulnerable to abuse.
Effects of going to College. College in general has a big impact on our life and careers. I do think that its important you go to a post secondary school that has the required prerequisites for your field of education, and that has the ability to challenge you. What's more important is that you take the advantage of opportunities at any college that you choose to go to. The importance of getting a college education makes a person strong and more confident about them selfs.
Personal responsibility is motivation towards succeeding in college. A student could improve and maintain their college grades when accepting personal responsibility. Using excuses and blaming others can reduce personal responsibility when trying to achieve a goal. I hold myself accountable for every decision I make. I think long and hard and weigh the pros and cons before I come to a conclusion, because my outcome will not only affect me, but everyone around me also.
However, organization is a skill you must have to practice your time management plan. Being organized is a great trait that one must have to be a successful college student. By being organized you will free up the time it takes looking for loose papers. Therefore having folders labeled with the work or assignments will cut that time out. Also being organized will make you as an individual feel better about yourself and more confident with your school work or projects.
Be accountable for yourself, you can either choose to succeed or fail. Myers (2011) stated, “The power behind taking responsibility for your actions lies in putting an end to negative thought patterns. You no longer dwell on what went wrong or focus on whom you are going to blame. You don't waste time building roadblocks to your success. Instead, you are set free and can now focus on succeeding”.
Describe how professional values impact career success Values are an important part of the inner personality of every individual. Your values could be different then the values of the professional who works next to you. However, it is very critical that the values that you have must be aligned with the job or the career that you are trying to undertake. It is critically important to look for values that not only satisfy you as an individual but values that are aligned with the values of your community and your heritage. While neglecting this important step in your career seeking you could be entering a career that could be brining you grief and perhaps failure.
