Why Belong? put simply why feel the impulsive urge to be accepted and belong this society, a society where all that matters is what’s printed on your name badge. Yet this drive for acceptance can over power even the strongest reservations people may have. All of a sudden what did appear crazy may now seem justified. John Powell once said ‘human beings, like plants, grow in the soil of acceptance, not in the atmosphere of rejection’. Honestly, who here doesn’t want to grow, none of us want to be in the atmosphere of rejection, we want to be in the upper-class of society, but what does that mean for us, we have money, a lot of it and a nice car, the house, the perfect life, but is it?.... do we really value these materialistic measures of how successful we are, cant success be measures in your personal quality of life? I don’t believe I need everyone else telling me how imperfect I am.
