One important answer to this question is opportunity. As opposed to generations of the past, high school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high-paying jobs that were once available. (College View) The U.S. has been transformed from a manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education today can be compared to that of a high school education forty years ago. Even though college can be a big load on people’s shoulder, it has opened a lot of doors for many college students. Going to college or a university serves as the gateway to better options, and more opportunity.
I knew that in order to ensure that I would be able to take care of my family long term, I had to go back to school and begin the pursuit of my degree. After I have now gone through my first college course (Introduction to University Studies) in over 16 years, it is a decision that I am glad I finally made. Getting a degree will allow me to pursue greater career opportunities that will enable me to provide a more stable and comfortable life for me and my family. The journey of getting a degree will also make me a better rounded person as well. I will not only get the knowledge and information I need for my major, Accounting, but by taking other courses I will also learn new things that I do not already know now.
I have been abroad twice and have always thought this was the way to make a difference. When I was in High school I would do a lot of volunteer work in my community back home. I do not know why but since I been in college I had this thought that the help was needed abroad. Now, my thinking has changed once again. There is not a better feeling to be involved in your own community.
Becoming a Paralegal Getting a college degree has always been a goal of mine since I graduated from high school way back in 1978. But, I had my three sons early in life and now they are all successful husbands and fathers. I feel this is the opportune time for me to pursue my dream of achieving a college degree. I was undecided at first on a profession, but since I already have a medical administrative background for over 10 + years, but the small town that I am from has very limited prospects, so I decided on the Paralegal profession. The skills that I have acquired before can be integrated into my new legal career.
This concern was rooted in the fact that Cisco alone had invested over $15 million into the initiative within the first three years, and was not sure if it could continue providing this kind of capital in the future. Cisco, one of the main contributors to the project, has an outlook of corporate social responsibility as more than just a box to check off in its daily operations. Cisco is an Internet communications company, which throughout its history has been very open to embracing change and innovation. The company places customer satisfaction at the forefront of its business plan and giving back to the community is part of its core values and is infused in its corporate culture. The employees buy into this philosophy, and the company has been named by Forbes as one of the best companies to work for.
Returning to school has been a dream of mines since I graduated from high school. The different job opportunity and having a better income to support me and my family would make me so happy. Quitting my job of 14 years motivated me to return to school to earn a degree. I want to have a stable and good paying job so that I can save for my son’s college as well. Jobs are hard to find these days, especially when they are seeking a High School diploma or a College degree of some sort.
Moving to the Land of Opportunities We make many courageous decisions in our lives. Some of them turn out well, and some of them don’t. When I was seventeen years old, my senior year in high school; I found out that I have a chance to go to the Land of Liberty. I had heard so many different things about this country called the United States of America and I was warned that it would be nothing I’d expected. It was the toughest decision my family and I had to make.
