John Stein 8th Period English 1010 Americas NOWtime The sport of baseball has been around since the 1800’s. The dead ball era has come and gone, as well as the steroid era. Greats like Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, and Ted Williams have lived the dream. Baseball helped break the color barrier while it was still a heated topic. During the 9/11 crisis, baseball helped take Americans minds off of the disaster and give them something to celebrate about.
I run all the bases and score the winning point for the team. Everyone's cheering and telling me how great I did. Then I hear an annoying buzzing sound and realize it was just a dream. I reach over and hit the snooze button. I'm so not ready to start my first day at Bay view heights.
Baseball may be the favorite pastime for millions of Americans--for me, it’s my life. A game of strength, skill, and stamina; for me it is also a game of physics and math. One hot game day, I watched parents and supporters cheering at World Series decibels. As we took the field to warm up, I had it all figured out that a win today would put us in the history books. While others busied themselves throwing and catching, I thought about how I was going to work with Mr. Newton’s laws--of inertia, of acceleration, and of reaction--in my pitching, and was determined not to let him down.
After everyone has piled on the appropriate condiments, no ketchup of course, we make our way to our seats. Same place every time: third base line, lower level, right where we can heckle the opposing team throughout the game. We get to our seats just in time to see some celebrity attempt to throw the first pitch and the game has begun. Within minutes we are all immersed in cheering on the Cubs, insulting the other team, and chewing out the umpires for whatever calls we feel are unjust. If a ball is smashed towards the wall, we are on our feet in seconds, inspiring it to grow wings and leave the ballpark.
Fans often greet out-of-play baseballs with cheers as they dive over walls and rows of seats, risking life and limb, for the thrill of triumphantly claiming the errant ball. Further, the state supreme court found that “owners and operators would face undue hardship

I never notice that softball is a bipolar sport. People get happy for one minute then the next they are yelling and screaming at each other. For example, when the second basemen would make a mistake, the whole team will start screaming at him. But once he is up to bat, and hits a base hit. The whole team would be cheering him on and telling him good hit and way to stroke the ball.
But when the right fielder got there he completely missed the ball allowing the first two runners to score with ease. I was devastated. Then rest of the inning went by with no more trouble and the game continued. When back on the mound for the sixth, I had gotten the first two outs easily but the next hitter did the unthinkable. He jacked a solo homerun to left field off of me and they led by one.
As I hit the floor I saw the ball descend from the bottom of the net. I couldn’t believe I hit the shot! The crowd went crazy and my teammates all came up to me and gave me hugs and high fives. This experience was so surreal and it didn’t hit me until later of what I
