They lost power, control, and respect as a nation, and the tensions between and with foreign countries and those within America itself persisted long after military attacks were made. Although the economic policies improved under the successes of Kennedy and Johnson, this war was crucial to the downfall of the economy that came in the 1970s. The social tensions still remain prominent today, and it is still a difficult topic of discussion and reflection for most. Politically, the pressures made people more aware and conscious of their decisions. Vietnam helped Americans draw from experience new lessons that drastically reformed the society during the 1960 and 1970s, and called to attention the questioning of beliefs and morals.
The Sixties in America The sixties were very turbulent years and had a great impact on the cultural, political, economic and social future of the United States. This change came about through a lot of violence and some very strong grasps for peace. The personality of the United States would never be the same. The peaceful times of the fifties would not return for years. The Vietnam War had a prominent effect on the United States economy.
********* AP US History 11-10-11 1820-1860 DBQ From the years 1820 to 1860 americans sought to resolve their political disputes through compromise, but by the 60's this was no longer effective. What are the reasons for this change??? The United States was and is a fast growing country. We've all heard about the civil war, and how it changed the states through different freedoms and such. But what was it that set this country overboard?
Second President of the United States, and successor of George Washington, John Adams stated that the history of the American Revolution began as far back as 1620. "The Revolution," he said, "was affected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people." However in a practical sense tensions between the Americas and British ‘redcoat’ forces began to arise in 1763, more than a century and a half since the first colonial settlement. The conflict raged for a bloody 8 years with equal losses, atrocities and political blunders definable on both sides.
On the domestic side, the administration struggled during the 1979 energy crisis which started when the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, fled the country amidst protests. These protests severely disputed the oil industry in Iran, leading to decreased production and the suspension of exports. Ayatollah Khomeini was soon installed as the new leader of the country, but

Thesis: The Miracle on Ice played a major role in boosting the morale of a torn nation and gave hope for the future of American culture. Introduction: - The years following completion of the Second World War in America were marred by economic and political problems that would erode the foundation of American culture for decades to come. With the debacle that ensued in Vietnam during the 1960’s and ‘70’s, Americans no longer had respect for or any faith in their government. To top it off the Communist expansion by Soviet Russia during these years was imminent and with this came the conspiracy of communism, as well as many other problems, within the United States government itself. America was in a recession and gave off the impression that it was no longer the superpower that was once feared and respected.
The Communist Party of Washington State went through numerous changes from 1940 to 1960. World War II and then the Cold War dramatically affected the Party’s fortunes and ability to function. The Red Scare of the late 1940s and early 1950s nearly destroyed the Communist Party, driving away most of its members. Some of the Washington State leaders were imprisoned, others went underground. World War II In the two years from 1939 to 1941, Communists in the United States witnessed stark changes in how the public responded to the Party.
"The 2008 Presidential election campaign demonstrated America’s ability to balance key foreign and domestic issues with its democratic values." Discuss. The September 11 2001 suicide attacks which killed many people and destroyed buildings in central New York triggered George Bush of the Republican Party to begin the ‘war on terror,’ entering Iraq on the false pretence of it possessing ‘weapons of mass destruction.’ In the following years many US and international soldiers died in the war which also cost the country financially. The Evolution of Occupy Wall Street The Occupy Wall Street Movement began in November 2011 and quickly spread to major cities across the United States and the world. The Movements initial message of Wall Street greed and government corruption resonated with citizens due to the negative economic situation in the United States, but If you look at successful social movements like the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s or the long struggle for women’s suffrage, you see that each had clear goals and effective leadership. The Occupy Movement has rendered itself ineffective because their goals have become unclear, and a lack of central leadership has left them without any legitimate figures to express the views and solutions of the Movement. Can the Occupy Movement survive without a leader? Many of the protesters like Los Angeles chapter member Joe Briones believes it can, and that the true strength of the Movement comes from not having a leader.
