Technology is a really over-powering thing and a growing epidemic and I feel that it's really taking a tole on young people but at the same time advancing the communication between us. To know that teens are using their phones on average 60 times a day is quiete saddening because there are so many other things you can be doing, such as doing home work, studying and spending time with family.
Jessica C December 1st, 2013 ENG 511 Professor So Revised Paper 3 Texting Should Be Allowed in Classrooms In today's society, text messaging is extremely popular for all different age groups. A unique way of text messaging on a phone is that the text message can be quickly transmitted to another person without taking up a large amount of time. Text messaging is also private. People will not be able to eavesdrop on the conversation. However, text messaging has been a major problem with students texting in class interfering with the disruption of their learning.
The way technology has driven the last half of a century has changed life astronomically. Everyday people crave and desire the next big thing on the market. Whether it is the hybrid car or touch screen phone, the need for something more leaves room in life for unhappiness when those items are not obtained. Lao-Tzu strongly argued that when people do not want anything, they are okay with living simple. This is beyond the truth of today.
The majority of society would would rather pick up their smartphones than pick up a book. They always have to get the latest apps and games. Well why not get the latest books? We are not yet entirely in Bradbury’s world, but we’re getting close. Media is causing us to do things without us knowing.
Some people say this is accurate for all he has done for the world. Introducing the Iphone to the public was a risky one but it was a step that no human has tried before. Making a portable, multi-touchscreen phone, music player, with Internet, and a way to do all this at once was unheard of. Jobs did not do this all by himself though. He has a lot of help and many years to come up with this technology.
Everyone needs electronics in their life from a simple cell phone to a smart car. We need electronics today for the most important things today, like contacting those who we love and care about but can’t see them because they are so far away. We also need it to help those who aren’t able to support themselves like an elevator that helps those who can’t walk as well as other. These types of things play a huge part in our society, and shouldn’t be changed. Being isolated from love ones for a day would hurt someone, but not seeing them for two years straight is crazy.
With the new inventions of texting and other ways of communicating through technology, it seems that more and more people would rather just be a face behind a screen. Moore’s point was that the new ideals of constant texting are killing the communication between people. Texting has become a very important part of most people’s life. Nowadays, a lot of people prefer to do everything through their cell phone, rather than face to face . It makes it easier for people to say things through a text message because they are not in front of the person.
We in the world today don’t realize what we are missing while we have our noses buried into our smartphones. We are so tuned into what we want everyone to know and what is going on in everyone’s lives that they want us to know, no one connects on a more personal level anymore. Parents are too busy on their phones to look at the trick their child is showing them, your popularity status is based on how many twitter followers you have, and heaven forbid anyone have a real conversation anymore without the phrase “LOL” somehow included. And that is why I believe the rapid advancement of technology in our society is
Here, Pitts gives several theoretical situations pertaining to society’s extensive use of smart phones to socially connect with others. The sad reality of this issue is especially accentuated when Pitts describes how family members all go to their separate rooms to choose their own options for self-entertainment, and how the most common action is for everyone “to be alone, together.” Pitts generalizes his audience to virtually all people at this point through his theoretical situation with family members being physically separated from one another, which aids him in getting his message across efficiently. Moreover, Pitts introduces the idea of how even an introvert can feel the loss of something when society is reduced to pixels on a bright and colorful screen. Clearly, he is displaying the ironic and unintended situation we face today with mobile social media. In a sense, Pitts is showing concern for the future generations, and how they would live their lives.
Social issues A major social issue in my generation is technology such as cell phones, computers, tablets etc… The 2000’s is mainly based off of social media like the wide spread of “My Space and other cites that connect you with people around the world. I think we all spend way too much of our time entertaining other people. Social media is not being used in the right way, which I think its harming people. Certain things should be monitored more closely especially pertaining to people of a younger age group. All of this technology is really hurting people and not actually helping them.
