Pathos is a rhetorical tool used to appeal to a reader’s feelings or desires. The importance of using pathos to appeal to the reader’s emotions is to make them feel at ease with the idea of a united world. Crystal’s pathos appeal is shown through unity to invite his audience to care about the argument. The author states that “It is now possible, using electronic mail, to copy a message to hundreds of locations all over the world virtually simultaneously…that is why people so often talk, these days, of the ‘Global Village.”’ (Crystal 358). This is the only part of the excerpt where Crystal tries to attach on to his audiences emotions.
She then brought the family to another area, sat them with the lunch menus and no children’s menus. Plus, the table was dirty. A waiter walked by after another 10 to 12 minutes of waiting and asked if he could take their order, even though the table was not in his area. The family ordered their meals and a glass of wine. So when ever my mom makes pozole I look forward to it since I don’t eat weekly. I remember the first time I tried pozole. I was about seven years old on Christmas eve. This was a special day for me because now I could eat the food that the adults ate instead of just the food the little kids ate like pizza and chips. I was anxious to eat this special meal because it was the first time I would try the pozole.
The internet allows you stay in contact and be aware of your acquaintances, ex-coworkers, and old friends. Also even to meeting a friend of a friend you never had the chance to greet. You can become interconnected with your whole school; even your whole town in a way and rekindle lost relationships. Although technology has provided us some measure of social connection that would have never been possible before, and has allowed us to maintain long-distance relationships that would have probably went haywire, the fact remains that we are slowly ruining the quality of social interaction that we all need as human beings. In conclusion, technology is ruining the quality of human interaction.
