Everything is Not What it Seems Part 1 (Theme): Deception Deception seems to occur on every page of the Summoning of Everyman, printed by John Skot. The play begins with God informing us that Everyman has deceived him by living his life loving riches instead of worshipping and acknowledging the Lord. God sends Death to summon Everyman to his reckoning, and Death informs him that he can bring along whoever or whatever he sees beneficial to him. After Everyman learns this, he begs several people in his life to join him on his journey. They all agree until they find out that Everyman will not be returning.

The manner in which they impressed Jesus with their faith and compassion towards their friend are emphasized in sermons taken from Mark 2:1-12. However, in his headquarters in the city of Capernaum there is more that happens previous to this account in the ministry of the Savior.
The narrator than continues describes a tradition in Sicily, where planting of a tree represents the birth of a child, because the earth has "one more life to bear". The narrator claims that he would have followed this tradition. However instead he is in the cold on his knees planting the sequoia, the native tree of California. With the tree he plants a lock of hair and an infant's umbilical cord. Only now in the middle of the poem does the narrator express that he is burying his son and reconnecting him with the elements of nature.

Ehsan is a very special branch of faith, which it is carried to the perfection. Ehsan or also known as tasawwuf, in plain words, it means the creation of real, living consciousness of Allah which a consciousness so strong and vivid as if one had actually seen Him and sweeping aside every trace of doubt and uncertainty. This branch of faith is attained when one consciousness becomes complete, thus he has a bond with Allah, which he fills his heart with the remembrance of Him. In whatever actions or deeds that he did, he will always remember Allah and he did it for the sake of Allah as if he is seeing Him. One who attained this type of faith is called a Muhsin.
