The Open Door Mission is the resource facility this author will research for journal entry three. This author believes the mission is very important for the survival of many homeless people around the City of Omaha (Open Door Mission, n.d.). Especially, in the winter month where temperatures could reach negative zero. This author will bring to light the facility, the services provided, the population served and the resource’s delivery services. This author will also provide information on the programs available to the homeless, the, phase I & II facility and community involvement, which keeps the facility moving forward. The Open Door Mission is a community based resource facility located in Omaha, Nebraska. According to Candace L. Gregory, President /CEO, “Phase III is the Garland Thompson Men’s Center under construction at present. Completion of this facility is undetermined at this time. Once the men’s centered is finished it will be a place where homeless men can learn to thrive independently, it will provide all the tools needed to prevent and end the cycle of homelessness and poverty in the Heartland” (Candace L. Gregory, 2009). The Open Door Mission serves over 2000 hot nutritious meals and provides shelter to hundreds of people every day from all over the city (Open Door Mission, n.d.). As stated, the population is made up of men, women, children and families.
