Online Classes vs. on-Campus Classes

Compare and Contrast After high school everyone has to make many educational decisions. One choice is how and where to take their classes. Whether college classes are taken online or on-campus, they have similarities and differences that need to be considered. With online classes, you don’t have any instant access to your teacher. Should you need any help or just have a question, it’s difficult to get any personalized help from either the teacher or any student in your class. Any and all assignments that are due for your classes are turned in online, and you only have access to your school books through the computer. Because the classes are online, there are only dates and times that your assignments have to be turned in by (i.e. end of the week, Saturday by 11:59PM), which makes it easier for the student to procrastinate on their work. On-campus classes make it easier to communicate one-on-one with your teacher. If you need any help or just have a question, you can speak to your teacher during class and/or speak to a student in your class. Any assignments that you get can be completed in class, on-campus, or at home, then turned in to the teacher. The books needed for your classes are owned by you, so you can make notes and highlight the text in the book if you need. It is harder to procrastinate while taking classes on-campus because you begin the homework in class (most times) and have the teacher to notice if you did or did not submit your assignments. When taking online or on-campus classes, you are always given a syllabus to outline your coursework for the length of each class. Regardless of how you take your classes, the teachers will want you to demonstrate your knowledge of the classroom subject by completing the given assignments. Either way you take classes, online or on-campus, you can still earn your degree or certificate at the end of your program.
