The females are taught to be subservient to the males at an early age, just as soon as they are able to understand the concept of it (Bishop Accountability, 2008). The typical Amish family do not educate their children about sex. More girls fall prey to sexual abuse and often have no reference as to what is happening (Bishop Accountability, 2008). The usual avenues for getting help are not available to the abused in the Amish community, abuse is usually noticed and reported by mainstream school teachers. That avenue is often blocked for those who attend an Amish school which leads to increased psychological and emotional issues that have no obvious resolution (Bishop Accountability, 2008).
