Balboa Park – Oktoberfest Festival For our class field trip to World Dance event critique I was looking at few dance events in San Diego area, and I decided to go to the International Folk Dances in Balboa Park where they presented the 55th annual Oktoberfest; that was held Saturday and Sunday September 22nd and 23rd.The International Dance Association of San Diego County is a unique nonprofit organization supported by the San Diego Park and Recreation Department, and it is dedicated to promoting and encouraging dancing as a social recreation for the public. The article Alt. Everything was about how advertising, and we as a generation, have made a drastic shift over the last fifty years. Naomi Klein starts off with Woodstock 94’ and how evident the drastic change in commercialization is from the first days of the festival in the 1960’s to the one in 1994. For instance the original Woodstock was basically free of advertisements and was kept so that it was more or less just a concert. The 1994 version however was heavily commercialized and was full of ads from companies trying to see their products.
Kevin had originally created and started up the Warped Tour in 1994, after being a part of the Lollapalooza festival for the previous three years. The first tour consisted of just a handful of his favorite Ska and Punk bands that grouped up on a few buses and began to tour. It was after this first year that Lyman began to rethink his touring concept, until the summer of ’95 where Vans Shoe Company approached him with the idea of a skating concert festival, hence the name “Van’s Warped Tour.” Lyman jumped at the opportunity to combine this idea with his own tour. This was the birth of the longest-running annual tour in North America. The crowds were nearly twice as large in 1996 than his original tour thanks to the sponsorship of Vans.
The Benjamin Wynne Case and how it relates to Millie I. Webb On the night of August 25, 1997 a tragedy occurred. At Louisiana State University a fraternity held a “bid night” party which is held for young men who have decided to pledge a fraternity. The party was held at a local bar, about a block away from campus, called Murphy’s where the current fraternity president currently held a job. The night began with a keg party at an off-campus apartment and then moved to Murphy’s. In Louisiana the law is that eighteen year olds can enter a bar but of course they cannot drink until they are twenty one.
They originally occurred on reservations only. It’s just been in the last 25 years or so that they have began to take place in public. Pow Wows used to be held only two times a year, after the winter frost had thawed and after the harvest and biggest hunt of the year; now they are held all throughout the year with the busiest being between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Pow Wows used to be performed before warriors left for battle as a prayer for safe return. Native American dancing was considered illegal towards the end of the nineteenth century.

Marketing Wine, Beer, Spirits 0621-554.06 Project 2 L Ronald Whitlock 4/24/09 Argentina Wine Industry Overview Introduction Not until I arrived did I have any idea that I was about to spend nearly a month at the very heart of Argentina’s wine industry. After all I had other and much bigger things on my mind, like Aconcaqua, the tallest mountain in the western hemisphere, which I was about to climb along with nine other climbers whom I had never meet and two guides whom I had never meet. The climb would take us 24 days which meant we had an additional 2 days in Mendoza on the way in and 3 more days in Mendoza on the way out. Unless of course we had to shorten our climb due to illness or accident or lengthen it due to snow storm delays. Both were quite probable, but turns out I was very lucky and not affected by either.
