I know you might be shock at this news but I was honestly doing it for the better of Rome. To this very day I still think that we should have killed Mark Antony along with Caesar. As we both know, Antony was up to no good. He turned to romans against us, started a war against, and let’s not forget, he tried to kill us both. If you would have listen to me, none of this would have happen to us and would have been living in Rome, where to people loved and looked us and you would still have Portia.
As a reward, he was given the throne to the city, and married the widowed queen. Oedipus ruled as a good king, but a second plague, in the form of disease, has been brought upon the city. To end the people’s suffering, Oedipus consults the Delphic oracle, and it tells him to rid Thebes of the murderer of King Laios, the former king, by execution of banishment. In a search to find the true murderer, Oedipus discovers that he is not really the man that he has thought himself to be; he was not originally from Corinth, but from Thebes, he was not the child of Polybus and Merope, but of King Laios and Queen Iocaste. When a young man, Oedipus had heard a drunken man at a feast cry out that he was not the natural son of Polybus and Merope.
ll. For example,Oedipus from Oedipus The King by Sophocles is a well thorough example of a tragic hero, as well as Okonkwo from Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Both characters are heroic and important people in their societies as well as admired by readers through the imagery of their action. However, the flaw that each of them have ruins their lives and drives them into pain. Oedipus is a mythical Greek king of a city named Thebes, he fulfills a prophecy that said he would kill his father, and thereby brings a disaster on his city and family.
Although the play is referred to as "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" Caesar was partly at fault for his own death. His arrogant attitude towards Romans and his self centered attitude brought an early death upon him. Caesar received many warnings which may have saved his life but unfortunately hubris got the best of him and Caesar was brought down. Arrogance is defined as "offensive display of superiority or self importance and overwhelming pride". This was the character of Caesar in a single sentence.
Both characters had such a connection to their father, which is why they were able to see the deception and trickery behind the murder of the two rulers. In Hamlet, it was the ghost of King Hamlet who revealed his murder to Prince Hamlet. In the Lion King, Mufasa also appears to Simba in the form of a ghost to give him insight on how to save the kingdom. The death of Scar and Claudius are both ironic. Both of the villains die in the way they killed their brothers.
In this section, Antigone encourages Ismene to help bury their brother, Polynices. He died a terrible death and Antigone believes he deserves a proper burial no matter what everyone else says about the way he died fighting against the city. Creon has specifically asked that no person mourn or touch his corpse and to “leave him unburied for the dogs to tear.” Ismene agrees to do one thing for Antigone in her master plan: to not tell anyone what she is going to do. Creon becomes king because he inherits the throne. Eteocles, Ismene and Antigone’s good brother, died fighting for the city is given a proper burial.
At the end of the play, Hamlet learns that the king was to blame for poisoning the blade. As a result, the king was slain; Hamlet had redeemed his honour through retribution of unjust death. The decisions of the characters consequently ended in their deaths, sealing their fate while trying to redeem their honour. Is it justified in the manner it is attained? Shakespeare explored how in different situations people can try to make things certain when the results are unforeseeable.
Another characteristic that makes John Proctor a tragic hero is his tragic flaw and his final tragic death. All these characteristics make a tragic hero; John Proctor possesses all of them and therefore he is considered one. John Proctor was a tragic hero because he had a tragic flaw. His unfortunate flaw was that he had a physical attraction for someone other than his wife, this person was Abigail Williams. When his wife became sick he began to get emotions for her.
Is John Proctor a tragic hero and is this play an example of a tragedy? John Proctor portrays the tragic hero in Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible.” Proctor, the protagonist of the piece, is revealed to the audience in his time of anguish and struggle, making his untimely death all the more unfortunate. In this tragedy, Proctor fights to save the town from insanity and chooses his death, rather than shame, in his struggle. The elements of a tragic hero are applied to Proctor in order for the audience to a feel sympathetic connection to a character who committed an unholy sin of adultery. With the death of Macbeth, William Shakespeare shows an insight of a perfect example of a classic tragic hero. Despite bending a few rules, Shakespeare illustrates that if a character is not held by fate, causes their own downfalls and realizing it was their own fault, they are what many call a tragic hero. Being a tragic hero isn’t limited to just stories or plays, but can be applied in the real world as well.
