Throughout his entire life, he had a very charismatic personality. This helped him to succeed in inspiring and motivating his men. Having the respect of his soldiers helped him to become a favourable political leader that people were able to look up to and admire.In addition, Alexander was a very strategic individual. It was due to this that he managed to create many effective military positions. This played a big role in his many victories, as he was able to win battles against the other leaders who did not have equally adequate positions.
He is strong because he is able to and control of his crew in dangerous situations and make them calm. Odysseus is a true hero. Odysseus made stupid mistakes and bad judgements. However, he is strong, clever, and intelligent. A hero is someone you can bet your life on and know that they will have your back whatever happens.
One of the characteristics Beowulf demonstrations is his capability of deeds of great strength and courage. Thus meaning, the hero has great potential for great deeds with abundant amount of strength. The extent of the heroes actions are well above and beyond what the normal people can do. Beowulf – An epic hero? After reading Burton Raffel’s translation of Beowulf, it is portrayed that the lead character was an incredible epic hero. Even though Beowulf is known for his great strength, he has other traits that make him so fantastic. Our character did many good things and many bad things. Some of which were acts of bravery.
Marian-Webster defines hero as "one who shows great courage" and "the principal male character in a literary or dramatic word." Odysseus fits Marian-Webster's definition, due to the fact throughout Odysseus' astonishing journey; Odysseus often shows certain qualities that make him a hero. Despite the fact Odysseus does not display heroic characteristics, he generally is a clever, respectful and welcoming heroic figure. Throughout most of a hero’s journeys a hero must overcome a great obstacle, and in order to pass that obstacle a hero must be very clever. Odysseus is a perfect example of a clever hero, Odysseus had to overcome a countless amount of obstacles throughout his journey, and Odysseus usually overcame those obstacles by using his cleverness.
Beowulf Epic poetry almost always includes the traits and actions of a perfect hero. In the epic poem, Beowulf, the main character is portrayed as a brave, strong warrior willing to do anything in order to gain personal fame. However, Beowulf also learns along the way that he is not invincible, and that being able to pass on his acts of heroism and being a good king is far more rewarding than being a hero. Beowulf travels to help the Danes in order to gain personal fame, and in order to be known as the slayer of Grendel. Beowulf is very self-confident and trusting in God, and even fights Grendel unarmed, and without any protective armor because of his faith.
