In this poem, Duffy affectionately remembers her experience of one year in her primary school, in particular the class of Mrs Tilscher. School, and especially Mrs Tilscher's class, was a place of security and adventure: 'Mrs Tilscher loved you', school, 'was better than home'. The poem is very evocative. Duffy uses lots of sensual imagery to dramatise the childhood world, so that we can experience it for ourselves. There is a lot of visual imagery, from the description of the 'chalky Pyramids' on the blackboard to the sky splitting open at the end of the poem.
Each speech was carefully put together and coordinated to fit the individual’s achievements. I thought that was very inspiring. Secondly, the awards for the honors students were very nice. I am an advocate for giving praise where it’s due. It is apparent that Brookdale in conjunction with Dr. Zimbardo and his

|Educ G 203 | |Influential Teacher Paper | |[Michelle May | |17 September 2012] | | | The Teachers that have Impacted My Life As I have gone through the school system, I have met a few teachers who have made an impact on my life. Thanks to their dedication, I have now been inspired to further my education and become a teacher myself. I obviously grew up being in the classroom taught by teachers but since my mom is a speech language pathologist I have also seen school from the teacher’s perspective. For as long as I can remember, I have loved helping her in her classroom. From coloring to lesson plans, I enjoy it all.
The best teachers are enthusiastic and stimulating. It is easy to see that these teachers actually enjoy teaching. They are dynamic and have interesting styles of presentation. They stimulate intellectual curiosity and encourage and motivate learners to self-directed learning. They encourage active participation of the learner, and establish a positive learning environment.
So, as I meet and greet every student by name each morning they are entering the Mrs. Freeman’s Happy Zone. This makes them feel special and lets them know I am happy they are there for the day. Students know from the very beginning of the year that only positive actions and learning occur in my classroom. There are numerous positive rewards offered in my classroom to encourage active learning. For example, I use a money system where I reward students for correct answers or participation.
I am also a social person who easily bonds with people around me. I am warm and therefore I easily create friendship with people that I encounter so I find my relation with them smooth all the time. People will always want to associate with someone who is social fir they believe that they will benefit from what the person possesses and in the long run they will also get to learn new concepts. In every task that I undertake, I am always hard working for I believe in giving my best in all that I do. This has earned me respect from my peers and superiors for I give my full commitment and dedication to my work.

teacher. He was cool and made class fun. I was in the fifth grade. He was friendly with all the kids especially the girls, and very complimentary. If you did not know how to do a particular routine he would walk you through it individually until you got it.
