Adult Branch 4 Promoting Integrated Care This essay will discuss and critically analyze a nursing intervention used in practice placement. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical intervention. It will examine what the evidence base states should happen and what actually happened in practice. The clinical intervention chosen to reflect on within this essay is care of a patient requiring feeding via a nasogastric (NG) tube due to dysphagia. This is a condition in which the action of swallowing is difficult to perform (Royal Marsden, 2008).
Evidence Based Practice in Adult Nursing The aim of this assignment is to critique a piece of quantitative nursing research, by identifying and commenting on the purpose and relevance of the study, the research design and the methodology employed. Firstly it will illustrate how to locate and retrieve evidence relating to the specific topic. A systematic evaluation of one research paper titled: Randomised Clinical Trial Comparing the Efficacy of Two Bandaging Regimens in the Treatment of Venous Leg Ulcers (Meyers et al, 2002) will be carried out. Initially the meaning of critique will be defined and the importance of research critique to nursing will be briefly described. Elements of a recognised framework by Cormack (2000) will be used as a guideline through the critique process.

11/12/2012 Components of a Nursing Care Plan A nursing care plan is a set of guidelines that directs nursing activities for a patient. It details the entire steps needed from beginning to end of a patient’s care. The nursing care plan is also a framework that allows for evaluation of the effectiveness of the plan and it promotes continuity after the patient has left the healthcare facility. The four main components of a nursing care plan are: nursing diagnosis; expected outcomes; interventions; and evaluations. Documentation of the nursing care plan is important in order for the patient to receive proper care.

The nursing process has five steps, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Today we will discuss the nursing process and how it applies to John’s case study on page 379.
