Pursuing My Career as a Nurse

Ivy Tech Community College Pursuing My Career as a Nurse Registered Nurses can make a difference in the medical profession, which is the driving passion in my life!” I am currently interested in nursing. I volunteered at the University Hospital ABU to gain a feel for what the environment was like. I desire to be a truly great Registered Nurse. My mum also influence me in my chosen future career, she has been a registered nurse for 25 years, she comes happy every night even on her worst days. According to BLS website (2014), Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. BLS website writes, “Most registered nurses work as part of a team with physicians and other healthcare specialists. Some registered nurses oversee licensed practical nurses, nursing assistant and home health aides” (2014, para. 5)
BLS website says “Registered nurses typically do the following: Record patients' medical histories and symptoms, administer patients’ medicines and treatments, set up plans for patients’ care or contribute to existing plans, observe patients and record observations, consult with doctors and other healthcare professionals, operate and monitor medical equipment, help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries, explain what to do at home after treatment” (2014,para.4). BLS writes , “As the largest healthcare occupation, registered nurses held about 2.7 million jobs in 2012. The industries that employed the most registered nurses in 2012 were as follows: hospiyal; state, local and private 61%, nursing and residential care 7%, offices of physicisns 7%, home health care 6% and government
