In my report I would like to compare and explain information between Nursing and Social Workers. Information below, will give answer if this two profession are very different from each other or do they have this same priority. 1. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND REGISTRATION
If we want to be qualified Nurse, we must be register with Nursing and Midwifery Council. NMC establish set of standards of education and training, so that nurses deliver high quality healthcare. To be registered nurse you must undertake professional training. This means that training can be taken in university settings. To complete post-graduate degree you must finish over 3 years of learning, which consist half of theory, and half of practical placement.
After registration in NMC we must complete a notification to practice every 3 years to remain on the register.
If we want to be qualified Social Worker, we must be register with Scottish Social Services Council. This profession need professional training. This can be obtaining by undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This both courses cover this same amount of theory and practise placement.
Alternative method was create, which enables students to work towards a postgraduate qualification to practice as a social worker. This program is called “STEP UP TO SOCIAL WORK”. These programs is in progress of 14 months, and give big opportunity learning from the experience from work, as well still have access to tutors in the university.
Finally to compare these two professions, they are very similar. They both must undertake the appropriate training, before to be register with their board. Social worker as well Nurses must be register with their respective regulatory boards.
Only one thing is different from one to other. Social workers develops alternative method, Nurses training is only available via degree programme. 2. CODE OF CONDUCT
