Norma Jeane Mortenson was born on June 1, 1926. She later changed her name to who we know her as today; Marilyn Monroe. She was an American singer, model, and actress. In her childhood, she became a ward of the State after her mother was sent to the State Mental Hospital in Norwalk. Marilyn’s mother Gladys’s best friend, Grace, became her guardian. Grace was the person who told her that she would become a movie star when she grew up. She would take her out to get her hair curled and let her wear makeup. They would often go out to see movies, which got Marilyn into really liking showbiz and the stars that were on the screen. Grace later married a man by the name of Ervin Silliman “Doc” Goddard. He sent Marilyn to the Los Angeles Orphan House. While Marilyn was there, many families became interested in adopting her. Since Gladys didn’t want to sign the adoption papers, the families couldn’t. Two years later, however, Marilyn moved back in with Grace and her husband. She joined Ervin’s daughter from a previous marriage. Ervin tried many times to sexually assault Marilyn. She was often seen with either one of the brothers. Bobby fell in love with Marilyn, but she didn’t feel the same way about him. She cared for him a lot, so she wanted to have an affair with him.
