Many may say what is English? I consider English to be a valuable aspect of a essential way uof life. Growing up I was the one who was fasinated with leaning how to read and spell, understand parts of English. Learning how to formulate words that would become a sentence. Focusing so hard on excelling in English I was having a hard time acknowledging the basic sentence patterens staying devoted I past it.
Kendall Palmer Professor Abbott English 0099 16 November 2012 Self Reflective Memo As a student of English 0099 I have dramatically improved my writing skills. I learned things from grammar, to how to write my thoughts down on paper. I learned how to change my writing process based on the guidelines of the assignment that I was given. I am good at knowing how to explain the points that I am trying to tell the audience. When I look at what I need to focus on, I still need grammar work.
Inclusive learning should promote positive behaviour and conduct. A teacher needs to recognise that learner comes with different learning styles and needs. Maslow stated unless certain need are met the learner cannot progress. Malsow ‘s hierarchy of needs theory is: Learners needs have to to be met in order for leaners to be involved and focused on their learning. For individual learning styles to be met, within a good learning sessions a teacher will ensure he/she takes a multi-sensory approach to teaching, this way each learner can work to the best of their ability.
The way I improved my paper was taking my instructors constructive criticism and making the necessary corrections, to the best of my ability. I had obvious problems with the comma usage, dangling modifiers, and it was no question that I have to improve my vocabulary. Referring back to the text book and using the Thesaurus definitely helped me make the best revisions that I can make. The most challenging part of this assignment for me was to expand the use of my vocabulary. I know a lot of words; I just don’t use them in my everyday conversation, thus making it more difficult to incorporate in my essay.
| Why do I want to learn it? | I hope I can communicate with others students with correct pronunciation. This is because most of the universities, colleges and institutes are using English as the medium of instruction. Furthermore, most of the reading materials such as textbooks, reference books, journals, research, encyclopedia and scientific reports are written in English. | English is the international language and spoken everywhere.

I love well written books that I can visualize with as I am reading. I love an author that can use words and phrases to keep me guessing throughout the book, it gives me the urge to want to know what is going to happen next. I want to keep reading to get to the end to fully understand what the author’s purpose is. I love a story that is very detailed because it gives me the chance to place myself in the story and really get into it.
Quality of Writing - Written work shows superior graduate quality in verbal expression, attention to detail, and correct application of the conventions of the English language. In students’ written work, paragraphing is appropriate with clear thesis statements and supporting details. Sentences are clear and concise. Students vary sentence structure making use of subordinate clauses. Transitional words and phrases are used effectively.
Learning to Read Malcolm X tried very hard to educate himself because he wanted not only to teach himself how to read but he also wanted to be able to understand what he was reading . His simple reason for wanting this was his desire to write letters which accurately communicated his thoughts . Prison is where his curiousity occurred to learn to read and write. He met a man named Bimbi that had both street and book smarts. Malclom felt being like Bimbi would get him where he wanted to go.
It made it easier to figure out exactly what she was looking for in my paper. It clarified some questions I had and made me realize that I can actually write a good paper when I put my mind to it and take the same time and effort as she does to correct our papers and apply to writing my own
Whenever I write by hand I have to think a lot harder about how to spell certain words. I notice that my friends also do the same thing and we have to ask each other how words are spelt or if sentences make sense. We have become sort of dependent on word processing.
