Manuel Rodriguez 12/20/2013 How Did the Enlightenment Cause the Latin American Revolution? European exploration began during the Middle Ages. During the late 13th century, Italian explorer Marco Polo went on a 25-year overland journey through Mongolia and Japan in search of a route to the Far East for trading textiles and spices that were essential to preserving food. Polo's account of his journey, The Travels of Marco Polo, published in 1477, was read by many future European explorers. (p. 1 European Exploration) In October 1492, Columbus landed on the island of Hispaniola (present-day Haiti and Dominican Republic).

Manhattan’s Chinatown is located on the lower east side of Manhattan, covers an area of about two square miles, with approximately
Perhaps the solution to this problem is to make the transport service available to all citizens alike regardless of the price and to extend the routes to all outskirts, even if thirty minutes away like Sugar Land, so that all parts of the fourth – largest city in the nation can be reached. New York is the largest city in America and the largest melting pot in the world, the city is also known for its’ Underground Railroad system, the subway. The subway allows people from all counties and districts to get to their destination without ever owning a vehicle. Though, New York is first for having the worst traffic influx in the nation, it also has the largest population and without having that rail system going under the super populated streets, one can imagine only chaos. With that said, METRO and the Houston elites should come together to provide a public transportation system which covers a large distance of travel to reduce the amount of people and cars on the highways at one time.

Although the independence movements took place at about the same time, the regions were not united, and each area had its own leaders and history, as seen in the countries Haiti and Mexico. At the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789, the colony of St. Dominque (also known as San Domingo), now Haiti, provided two-thirds of France’s overseas trade, employed one thousand ships and fifteen thousand French sailors. The colony became France’s richest.

England alone controlled nearly one-fifth of the world and a quarter of the population. During the late nineteenth century, many leaders came to believe that the possession of colonies and imperial influence was an important or necessary characteristic of a great European power. The success of European imperialism (colonialism) in general combined a system of “domestic political and economic stability with the production of national prestige and closed markets in the international arena through conquest.” [1] The years between 1870 and 1914 saw the spread
