Nepotism Adrienne Sharpe Dr. Leslie Wills Human Resources Capstone May 5, 2013 Summary of the Major Problems That Mary Smith Has Caused In Her Short Tenure with the Company In my opinion Mary Smith has caused major problems in the short period of time that she has been employed. Mary has proved to be very irresponsible when it comes to her job. Mary takes advantage of her position because she is the daughter of one of the founders of the company. Mary comes to work late or fails to show up at all. She is unable to coordinate the different tasks and the activities that are required on a daily basis for an administrative assistant, and she shows favoritism to certain coworkers. The actions of Mary have proved to be unethical, Mary is unable to develop, produce , and maintain daily reports that the department relies on to have a productive day. Mary Smith has spoiled the morale of all the other employees which can affect how the company and the employees operate. The employees feel that they have been disrespected, and are very disappointed by Mary’s disregard of work ethic. The behavior of Mary has resulted in poor performance of performance in the overall routines of the firm owing to their lack of appreciation (Darwin, 2009). From the perspective of her immediate supervisor, prepare a job description that details the necessary tasks that Ms. Smith should perform in her role as administrative assistant. As Mary’s supervisor associated with the position of an administrative assistant, Ms. Smith is to provide support to the office workers. Duties can include performing a variety of support to an organizational team such as prepare correspondence, memoranda, and reports. Ms. Smith will be expected to prepare and maintain reports, statistics and to keep control of all records regarding daily operations and personnel changes.
