The meaning of going to school for me is to study your interest and something you can see your self doing years from now. Knowledge is something that I have always wish to gain because it gives you power. I always like to stay committed to whatever I am doing. My reasons for going to school are to help me and my family in the future and improve our lives. Helping others I feel is party of my personality.
The next step is to complete four years of graduate school in a highly recognized medical school, and get your medical doctorate degree. It is a prerequisite to what I want to do with my life. I always wanted to be a music teacher, preferably middle school students. I know that without a diploma from an accredited college, I will not be able to get into a decent graduate school and I won't be able to get any form of a decent job other than something in a cubicle and that's not where I see my life going in 10 years. Studies show that students that attend college immediately after college find more secure jobs than those that delay going to school (www.getdegrees.com). As someone looking at a job in a field that is ever changing with the economy, knowing that a college degree that I earn 4 short years after graduation from high school, it is very enticing.
Why College Education is Important to Me For most individuals, a college education is merely the next step in the road to a successful career. For myself, the importance of a college education is more of a personal goal. Eight years ago, one of the last conversations I had with my mother prior to her passing away was her wish for me to attain my Bachelors Degree; a goal I had made for myself back when I was just entering High School but never attained as planned. I was one of those numbers who contributed to the statistics of having to drop out of college early on due to pregnancy. As a single parent, I had to put my educational goals on the back burner to raising my family.
I hope my educational and career goals also satisfy my personal goals of becoming a successful individual with strong morals and goals, hoping to work with people and work in the field that helped me. As a student, I am strong-willed and hard-working. I am proud of the grades I have earned and the things I have accomplished thus far, especially in a difficult major such as kinesiology. Yet, I struggle to think of how I will ever pay off the debt I will accrue in undergraduate and graduate school. Thanks greatly to the financial support of my parents, I have the opportunity to further my education and achieve my educational goals.
Dedication, discipline, and adopting a goal driven mind set are also other vital elements of personal responsibility one would need to employ in order to achieve success. A dedicated attitude to achieving academic success involves devoting time and commitment to doing what it takes to be successful. This could mean balancing time between work, school and family. The student would have to discuss, with his or her family, the changes which are going to come about and listen to their opinions about those changes. A good example of this is I decided to go back to school to complete my degree.
Regardless of how I acquired this skill, this set of values is significant to me. My work ethic not only includes how I do my job, but it defines my attitude, behavior, respect, and interactions with others. I am accustom to routine, which has undoubtedly strengthened my work ethic. My life style includes putting education before extracurricular activities. Homework was completed at the same place and at the same time daily.
From the beginning of my school career, my elders always stressed the importance of education. Throughout high school, I never understood why an education was so important, I often would goof off or not take my studies seriously. While most high school graduates are deciding where to go to college and what to study, I decided to focus on raising a family. When my youngest child turned three, I finally entered the workforce. This is when I realized how important a college education really was.
The pursuit of new found personal goals lead to the University of Phoenix where I will garner the skills, contacts and confidence to succeed in my chosen career. Pursuit of a Graduate Degree My mother always said that I have a hard time doing things that my heart was not into and she was right! I have attempted to begin my graduate degree three times in the past four years. I would go so far as to register, pay my bill in cash and even purchase my books. Then something would happen that would make me change my mind and withdraw.
The reason why I am attending college In today’s hard economy it is not easy to find a good job without a college degree. A high school diploma does not meet the standards of what most jobs require to find a decent job with a decent pay in order to survive in this rough economy. When I was in high school I struggled a lot while deciding whether I want to go to a cosmetology school, a university, or a community college. I was able to make the right choice for me at the end. When I was in middle school, I decided that I was going to cosmetology school to become a hair stylist and nail professional.
