Sean Lee Mr. Shatalin Management I January 9, 2013 Leadership Profile: Tupac Amaru Shakur Many people have viewed Hip Hop artist Tupac Amaru Shakur as a controversial Rapper and very Hypocritical. Personally I view him as a leader who was misunderstood by society. He was a revolutionary whose vision was cut down early when he was killed on September 7, 1996 due to gunshot wounds. He made America see what was going on in some of the poverty stricken areas of the nation. He inspired many people, regardless of race or gender, and was a spark of enthusiasm in the 90’s.
Unlike Greek plays, where main characters were kings and nobles for they were thought to embody the whole community, modern tragedies present an average leader of a family, neither completely good nor completely evil, whose mistake leads to his self-destruction. Joe is a role model to his neighbourhood for he is a hard-working, decent man; it is easy to feel identified with him. We see how significant he is among his neighbours since even children have a sense of respect for him. We see this when little Bert says; “Except some kids from Thirtieth Street. They started kicking a can down the block, and I made them go away because you were sleeping”.
Cousin Francis yelled, “He`s nothing` but a nigger-lover!” (Lee pg83). Just because Atticus was doing the right and noble thing, Cousin Francis thought that he loved black people but he did not know Tom. Although, Jem stated that, “Atticus says cheatin` a coloured man is ten times worse than cheatin` a white man.” (Lee pg201) It is worse because it is like killing a mockingbird, which is a sin, coloured men do not really bother anybody. And then Atticus explained that, “...You’ll see white men cheat black men everyday of your life, ...whenever a white man does that to a black man, ... that white man is trash.” (Lee pg220). He explained that white men always win and cheat, so the white men are the victors but the white man is always a bad man.
This character is not afraid to show his emotions, especially in a society where a man portraying his emotions might be viewed as a sign of weakness. The scene which Grendel sneaks in at night and kills many of Hrothgar’s warriors; in the morning he says “Knowing by its tracks that some demon had torn his followers apart. He wept, fearing the beginning might not be the end.”(40). Most people can relate to these feelings of hopelessness and despair displayed in this scene. Some may see Hrothgar as a coward; he really cares deeply for the welfare of his people, a quality that is admired by many.
Our own Matthew Oakley has just left our school to train at Kapooka to serve in our Australian armed forces. The men and women are not only serving our country, but also representing our country, making a positive contribution all over the world in places such as Afghanistan, the Solomon
Bundy was a necrophiliac who admitted to beheading 12 of his victims. Biographer Ann Rule described him as "a sadistic sociopath who took pleasure from another human's pain and the control he had over his victims, to the point of death, and even after". On June 7, 1977, after being convicted for his crimes Bundy escaped jail and was on the FBI’s top ten most wanted fugitives. He was later found and put back on death row where he admitted to his crimes and took full responsibility for his crimes. Ted Bundy was executed on January 24, 1989 in
The narrator in ATTH, killed because he claimed the old man’s eyes resembled that of a vulture’s and that he felt uncomfortable because he also claimed that whenever they fell on him, his “blood ran cold”. Though the motive was not because of hatred or wealth; “I loved the old man…For his gold I had no desire”, it was more than just his eyes that the narrator despised. He could have used a quicker method of killing, instead of haunting the old man for eight days, and enlisting fear into him till his last breath. “I knew that that he had been lying awake ever since the first slight noise…His fears had been ever since growing upon him.” The protagonist in each literature share the same selfish and irrational characteristics; to take away a good leader from it’s people and replace it with a dictator is a selfish and irrational act. Taking away someone else’s life
Communism in Romania: The Ceausescu Regime Communism was a bloody ideology that caused millions of innocent deaths in the 20th century and it affected half the globe. It was a nightmare, which promised equality and justice, but which brought atrocities, death, torture and fear. In spite of all this history nations like China, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam and Laos still embraced this ideology. However, it left deep scars on the people and nations who experienced it. For many nations the process of getting rid of the communist reminiscences and legacy and going back to democracy has proven to be a tough one.
I think that the audience is very naive for feeling sympathy for Tsotsi because he is a criminal that was involved with the murder of two people; Butcher and Zachariah. If anyone were to commit such crimes in reality no one would hesitate to send the person to prison but because of clever filming that made Tsotsi look innocent at the end of the film the audience feel sorry for him. Gavin Hood achieves this by shooting high angles on Tsotsi which make him look small and vulnerable. Along with good acting by Presley Chweneyagae(Tsotsi) , the director effectively wins the hearts of the audience and evokes sympathy for Tsotsi when he is arrested. In a matter of days, the film shows the dramatic change of Tsotsi’s character.
This word was perpetuated by the media and conservative politicians. Such as in 2004, John Howard persuaded a lot of people that refugees were evil ‘queue jumpers’, where people throw their children overboard. However, after he ‘won’ the election, he admitted that he intentionally lied about the ‘children overboard’. Also, Tony Abbot was disorderly loud and disorderly in his election campaign calling: STOP THE BOAT. He recognized that majority of Australians had negative opinions on asylum seekers and therefore made it the top slogan for political gains.
