Magellan was worth defending because he was very resourceful and could navigate well, he had good disciplined leadership skills, and he was motivated and never gave up. The first reason why Magellan was worth fighting for was because of his resourcefulness and superior navigation skills. He was very clever when guiding his fleet, ¨As the water became fresher, he knew he was traveling inland, and once it turned salty, he realized he was approaching the Pacific on the western side of the strait¨ (Doc C). Being resourceful like this guided his crew through the Strait of Magellan to the Pacific Ocean, bringing them one step closer to reaching their goal. Also his navigational skills led them to the strait through South America that no one before him had discovered proving that saving Magellan would be a good decision to make.
